Hi Vam, I've been back in Scotland for 5 years now, hence why my Spanish is a bit rusty. If you don't use it, you lose it, I tend to think.

Anyhow yes, I lived in a little town called Alfaz de PI, just 10 mins north of Benidorm (which I hate with a passion) and very near to Albir and Altea which you might know. I loved my time out there and fully integrated myself into the Spanish way of life. Only really meant to go for a couple of years, but found a good job right from the start and stayed there for the 9 years I was in Spain.

But then I started to hanker after Scotland, it took me two years to finally make up my mind - folks thought I was mad to come back, when I had it all going for me over in Spain, but the pull was too great and I don't regret being back in Scotland.

I'm further South than you were - 15 minutes from Marbella But it's good to know you have no regrets about your 9-year 'place in the sun'. Or about going back to your roots.

That's why I've decided to rent for the next couple of years - need some stress-free and uncomplicated time to figure out whether I want to stay in Spain or not, before I decide to buy again. I couldn't move anywhere cold, though! I'm kinda toying with the idea of the States, maybe Italy - but only toying for now.

One last question: if you're not already a member here, why not?
