No bloody wonder your Spanish is so good! Way better than mine after 13 years here But if in doubt, I just wing it with a bit of Italian chucked in It gets me by. Which part of Spain were you living in for 9 years?
Scotland is also very beautiful, but much more...."brrrrrrr!" - ¡Ay, que frío!

Hi Vam, I've been back in Scotland for 5 years now, hence why my Spanish is a bit rusty. If you don't use it, you lose it, I tend to think.
Anyhow yes, I lived in a little town called Alfaz de PI, just 10 mins north of Benidorm (which I hate with a passion) and very near to Albir and Altea which you might know. I loved my time out there and fully integrated myself into the Spanish way of life. Only really meant to go for a couple of years, but found a good job right from the start and stayed there for the 9 years I was in Spain.
But then I started to hanker after Scotland, it took me two years to finally make up my mind - folks thought I was mad to come back, when I had it all going for me over in Spain, but the pull was too great and I don't regret being back in Scotland.
I hear you've moved house Vam and hope you are settling in ok.
I wish you the very best!

"Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend - or a meaningful day" ~ Dalai Lama
Life is entropy and suffering. This thread will fall into ruin as everything does, the crumbling remains of a once great monument to human connection. I do not mourn for the passing of the light but welcome the embrace of darkness.
But that day is not today.
Huzzah!
Donald, where's ya troosers?
