No, I'm not taking the piss. And no-one has ever died in that area as far as I know. It is just the quickest route home. But it is just this amount of hate and fear that Is being stirred up.

Hmm, a bit of a toughie in the present climate . Perhaps just make sure you dress 'respectfully' so you don't draw attention to yourself . It's coming into the bad weather so you'll be well happed up anyway . If your job requires skirts worn then wear trousers and trainers travelling to work & change into your uniform in the loos . By the end of winter you'll have a better idea of what the area is like .
Personally I hate kowtowing to people who should mind their own feckin' business, but where your safety is concerned you don't have a choice .

Most of it is media bollox. Some people (Muslims) around here know I'm half German/half Jewish. They don't give a shit.

They might take the piss a bit, as I'm non religious, but they aren't attacking me in the street or fire bombing my house.

ETA. One of the local Polish shops is run by Jews, judging by the shop name. Nobody (including local Muslims) cares.

There are only two types of people. Good people and bad people. Colour, race, ethnicity etc. has little to do with it in normal circumstances.
