The Titan, Elephant and Goliath beetles in a nice size comparison.

The shaded Titan is anecdotal - but possible because it is believed females are larger and more robust than males - and are not attracted to the light so are very rarely caught.

They are wonderful creatures I totally agree guesty!

Also for mammals of their size they are remarkably long lived - over 40 years in the case of the Brandt's bat despite it only weighing a minuscule 4 - 8 grams!

I take my daughter to the bat bridge on the canal once the nights start drawing in, it's a bit of a tradition and we actually call it the fledermaus bridge, once your eyes have become accustomed to the dusk there are just bats everywhere swooping and feeding, for some reason it's very special

Don't bats attack our ears? Latch on it etc?

Whenever we spot a bat flying close by..Immediately everyone puts hands on their ears and looks around frantically... :gigglesnshit:

I think a lot of people are terrified of them getting caught in their hair, never happened to me yet though

and I can honestly say that a bat has never latched on to my ear - the concept quite genuinely astounds me
