ITALIA of course! :canny:

The way they played to settle the score with Spain (after 2012) was a joy to behold......even though they then got themselves knocked out of the competition by playing like crap against Germany

But I forgive them... :wubwub:

FWIW Vam, I didn't think that Italia played like merda against I tedeschi, the fact that it ended 1-1 before the penalties made them pretty even.
Okay, so Darmian's penalty was saved by Neuer, but he is a defender, not a striker, although Zaza, an alleged penalty specialist, skyed his over the bar.
Even cool, calm, and often looking half-asleep Özil hit the bar I think, so much for the world champion penalty takers.

The Homeless World Cup starts on Sunday in Glasgow and 64 teams, representing 52 countries will take part.

Scotland will get the tournament underway, when we take on Hong Kong.

Nice work France, and to Monsieur Frank on here- a deserved victory in the end and they definitely didn't want to be going to penalties against the Germans.

No disrespect to any of the teams, but I do think the quality of many of them are not what they have been in years gone by, but in a way that's made the tournament more open. France and Germany were my tips for the tournament at the start, so I'll be hoping Les Bleus give Ronaldo and his pals the runaround in the final.

I'm not usually one for mixing sport with sentimentality but I also think it'd be great for Paris ad Parisians to celebrate a victory for their national team in the capital to bring a bit of joy to a city that only recently had such tragedy.

I was unaware of this Homeless World Cup, and I thought that it was a typo for Hopeless, especially when I saw that Scotland and England are in it.
I'm smiling as I type this Victoria, so that you KNOW I'm kidding.
I've since googled Homeless World Cup, and found out that it's a worthy cause.
How good are Hong Kong?
I'd anticipate that you sweaties, (still smiling Victoria), should see them off, and if you can recruit all your Scots Rangers players, you'll no doubt do England too, not that that should be too hard for a team of Girl Guides to do.

I'm not sure how good Hong Kong are, but it's a good cause and it's given a lot of people their lives back.

Scotland's Captain Craig McManus had battled drug and alcohol problems for twenty years and says football saved his life.

Little fact...

Scotland, Brazil, Italy and Chile have all won the tournament twice, England have yet to win it.

Austria were the first country to win the Homeless World Cup with a 2-1 win over England.

Scotland first won the tournament with a 9-3 victory over Poland.

Ciao, Frank

I think, for me, the game against Germany turned out to be a bit of an anti-climax. I still had the recall of the clinical, disciplined, relentless way they swatted Spain and sent them...a quel paese :gigglesnshit:

I guess I expected the same unrelenting, dynamic style of play against Germany :dunno: Sure, they didn't give them an easy ride, but I distinctly remember seeing them a bit hesitant - especially in the first half. I was yelling at the screen "SU!...MUOVETEVI!!!"

I thought the parade by the Welsh team was great and it was nice to see so many people turn out to welcome them home.

Oh well, Portugal win, c'est la vie, it was a blinding goal, can't argue with that, well done Portugal.
However, from where I was sitting, the 'handball yellow card' that Koscielny was given, was a case of mistaken identity.
On the replay, the ball undoubtedly came into contact with a hand, but the hand appeared to be black to me, I couldn't swear my life away on it, but it looked black to me.
France have their share of black players, so it COULD have been a French hand, in which case the free kick awarded would have been justified, but it still wouldn't have been Koscielny's hand.
I'm not trying to say that the POSSIBLE mistaken identity cost France the game, far from it, Portugal played more than well enough to justify their win, and France seemed to have lost their edge, the dash and élan that had characterised their previous games in this tournament.
