The former Labour foreign secretary and ex-Tory prime minister say Britons voted on a "fantasy" Brexit proposal in 2016.

So two election losers who also lost in referendum want us to vote again.

Lol.

Funny how people can write what ever enters their head, and the gullible will always laugh and believe it.

Had Britain not voted to leave, the deficit would be down to just 0.1% of GDP, or £2bn. It would mean the austerity drive in place since 2010 would be all but complete.

The prime minister has announced plans for a “festival of Brexit Britain” in a bid to quieten discontent from MPs at the start of Tory party conference.

The bizarre proposal - which is already earmarked to cost £120m – is said to have been inspired by the 1851 Great Exhibition during Queen Victoria’s reign, and also the post-war festival of Britain in 1951.

The prime minister has said the event would take place as the country goes through a period of “national renewal” as the UK looks to a future outside of the European Union.

May has claimed that the festival would showcase the best of the UK’s talent in business, technology, arts and sport, and hopes events will take place in every region, even those that voted against Brexit.

The Tories are hoping the 2022 event will also take place ahead of the next scheduled general election – although it is thought an election could take place much sooner.

Commenting on the plans Theresa May said: “Almost 70 years ago the Festival of Britain stood as a symbol of change. Britain once again stands on the cusp of a new future as an outward facing global trading nation.

“And, just as millions of Britons celebrated their nation’s great achievements in 1951, we want to showcase what makes our country great today.

Latvia’s ambassador to the UK, Baiba Braže, in response to a tweet highlighting Hunt’s comparison of the EU to the Soviet Union, said: “Soviets killed, deported, exiled and imprisoned 100 thousands of Latvia’s inhabitants after the illegal occupation in 1940, and ruined lives of three generations, while the EU has brought prosperity, equality, growth, respect.”

Only paid off WW2 war debt when Mr Brown ( lord) used gold reserves. And the US refused to pay for all the military as well as other trade benifits recived. If that is the rules by which every body wants to play then the architects have a cheek to bemone the rules of engagment.NATO started with the Prussian Britanic alliance, and in many instances up held agreements at the expenses of the people. Suize, Palestine, Lybia, there are a few instances such as Falklands (no settlement till after Argentine collonisation), Opium wars (shouldn't have ignore health and social problems. And the second opium was rendered illegal, Hong Kong should have been returned, thats like accusing someone of murder after the person killed some one when it wasn't illegal. Or criminalisin our grand parents for not wearing seat belts befoe they where invented) and Gibraltar ( sea is not in the agreement).

I remember fruit being sweet soft and juice the ran off the elbow. Can't blame brexit for unfavorable growing conditions and the attempted Corporate monopoly of Avocado farmers. As for food being left to rot, that is the only way farmers can get better prices from the markets. It is standard practice and has been for near fifty years. Just look at what European fishing fleats did to Somalia.

Can't see too many farmers making a profit on crops rotting in the fields. A painful loss, more like. You never did get a better price for unpicked produce.

In fact, the reason farmers left crops to rot was because of overproduction producing a glut which meant it was uneconomic to harvest. EU rules pretty much sorted that, and we don't see the likes of butter mountains any more. Nowadays, farmers produce on contract for specific markets. If crops are not harvested, there will be shortages.
