They called it Spartan when it was still alpha, it's meant to be a big improvement on IE.

You can run it in their virtual machine to see if there are any bugs yourself: https://remote.modern.ie/

Had a Win 10 notification in my task bar, just reserved the free upgrade for the 29th. I've reverted back to 7 Pro on my Thinkpad so I will get the 10 Pro upgrade on that one. It will be interesting to compare the options between that and the consumer release. I've still got half a dozen 7 Pro OEM ISO's that I can install on this one to upgrade to pro if it's any better.

They've been calling a lot of their new things after the characters from Microsoft's flagship X box game 'Halo' - Spartan and Cortana being the obvious examples. It's going to be an ongoing feature apparently.

Seriously Keith, Apple needs to look over it's shoulder at an actual tech company that is any danger to Microsoft because this stuff looks actually cool:

I watched the WWDC the other night. It's good to see that the fruit company is catching up with stuff that the rest of the mobile market have had for the last two years, even following Microsoft by making some of their code open source.

Apple, old ideas.

Anyone using it yet? - I've already been reminded that it's ready to go - thought I'd wait until someone else's tries it to see if it buggers up their computer first.

I'm signed up for the release on one PC and the backup one has yet to get the download notification despite running it in beta on that machine. Windows 8 and the service packs that followed were easy to customise and having used 10 before, it's not a huge jump. I've had Windows phones before and I'd happily use it on my phone if it was made available.

My hardware, I should be allowed to run anything that I want to on it.

I'm getting a message every time I start up now, telling me it's all downloaded and ready to install.

I'll wait until the weekend, if I don't read of anything untoward, I'll give it a go.

Got it downloading on the main comp, on my trusty old ThinkPad while the installation is occurring. This should get it too running Win 7 at the moment and I was running the 10 beta version on it before reverting a couple of months ago. It's runs the pro version which is maybe why I haven't got the upgrade notification yet :dunno:

An hour for an install of a new OS from Windows? :yikes:

Nice to see the start menu back but all of the app bollocks was annoying. You don't need apps to access website features and besides, they're called programmes on full sized computers.

All my hardware works so, happy days :smilin:
