I believe Apple do a different cable each time they bring something out to make us spend more money,

Three pin kettle plug for the PC, USB C for my phone and micro USB for pretty much everything else. Apple forces you to buy their shit so I've read, never had one of their products and never would.

They live is already plugged in to my printer but the wire from it to my MacBook is now fitted with a much smaller USB male end about a 1/4 inch wide, the old Mac had a 1////2 wide female opening USB

Then try a Type C USB adaptor about a fiver for three on Amazon .
