Red Wall robbed of £1 billion in development cash by Brexit

Postby Cactus Jack » Sun Aug 15, 2021 9:15 am

English regions were awarded a total of £1.12 billion from Brussels in 2018. The biggest losers under the new scheme are likely to be the Midlands, Yorkshire, Cornwall and the northwest, according to figures obtained by Labour.

Wales will be even harder hit, having been expected to receive £373 million a year in the EU – while Scotland received £125 million annually.

Steve Reed MP, Labour’s shadow communities secretary, told The Independent: “This research makes a mockery of the Conservatives’ pledge to to fix the gigantic regional inequalities they have created.

These funds that were due to come from the EU to the UK have been replaced by just £220 million in total from the Conservative government leaving a shortfall approximately £1 billion.

This is what Brexiters keep telling us they knew what they were voting for - to make themselves poorer. Strange lot.

What about the 13 billion the UK gave the EU in 2018. The UK will make out fine. Plus I would not believe anything the Labour party puts out. I don't believe the Tories either these days.

Still no word in the extra billion from Boorish - I guess he needed it to pay his decorators at No 10.

We've already had that back - and more. £350m a week (the fake figure Johnson had on the Vote Leave bus) @ 37 weeks since we left EU = £12billion 950 m, yet the NHS hasn't seen a penny of it.

When will a Brexit Voter stand up and admit they got it wrong, and in doing so they have fucked themselves up? :off head:

Raven The One True Voice can never be wrong.

Brexit was done the wrong way, or it was betrayed by a government that didn't believe in it, or it was saboutaged by Remoaners, or we're punished by the EU and now by the US government who are against it.

The One True Voice has decided there is no argument no matter how fatuous or at odds with observed reality that isn't definitive in support of Brexit and no reasoning, no matter how compelling, and no evidence no matter how overwhelming that can demonstrate it's folly.
