Have you ever been to a school re-union?

Postby common sense » Mon Jul 27, 2020 4:56 pm

Have been invited to one next Sept., 2021, in Barnsley, guys who started our secondary in 1971. A buffet and bar 7pm to midnight. May give it a miss as what do I talk about? I know the No.1 question now. What do you do? Suppose I could day retired. :leer:

I still know a lot of the people I went to school with, I see them often enough, don't want to see them at an event, half of them thinking their better than they actually are

I bet the most popular and first question will be "What do you do?" :leer: My friend right from primary through secondary has just been made an Hon. Professor at Liverpool uni so he can tell them that if he goes.

I would not go, I have never been asked or even heard of one for my final school.

I have wondered if any of my boxing trophies and photos are still in existence somewhere.

To be fair, you don't need a school reunion on the Isle of Wight. I'm a newcomer, and I bet I know at least 6 people you know as well.

I'm in my second year here and I'm on the brief chat in the street stage with a few people, it's quite comfy.

I obviously cheat a bit, cos I know a fair number through work, I did a lot in Cowes. But everyone knows everyone here. The issue isnt a reunion, its making sure the buggers dont know quite everything about you.

Got two School Reunion jokes for you, CS.

#1
At a reunion a guy easily recognises a lady of the same age as he - a classmate whom he'd always fancied, she still looked stunning 20 years later.
Rushes up to her and says "Hey Nora, you were in my class, how are you?" (This guy had not aged well, what with drinking and smoking to excess and a junk food diet.) Without missing a beat the lady politely and innocently replied "Which subject did you teach the class?"

#2
A husband goes with his wife to her high school reunion.

As they walked in, the band was playing and one particular guy on the dance floor really stood out - break dancing, moon walking, back flips, buying drinks for everyone, living it large . . . ..

Wife turns to her husband and proudly tells him "see that guy? 25 years ago he proposed to me and I turned him down."

Husband wistfully replies: "Looks like he's still celebrating!!!"
