World War 1 100th Anniversury

Postby samthefootball » Thu Nov 30, 2017 7:55 pm

As alot of you may know next year marks the 100th anniversary for when the first world war ended. In my town where I am from a famous poet called Wilfred Owen fought and died just days before world war one finished. For next years 100th anniversary is there likely to be any events on the day the war ended itself. I know they do a two minute silence on remembrance day but surely there will be more things planned

Hostilities may have ceased long before but for Germany WWI did not officially end until 3rd of October 2010 when the final reparation payment was made.

But lucky them, they'll be getting much more back when we pay our Brexit bill - as usual, we win a war but lose the peace - good ol' Blighty.

If not then there should be. 100 years ago in 2018 the whole world (more or less) fought against itself. Half on one side half on the other. Will we ever learn

Fortunately not for long, they've gotta start paying for WW2 now, and they owe us bucket loads for that, what with flattening entire cities for starters.

BTW we only finished repaying our debts to America for WW2 in 2000, so I guess we can claim that back as well from Merkel. It's all good. :canny:
Dear Lord, save us from the wrath of the Tartars

Are they? That's good to know - and about time. May my dear old Dad rest in his grave.
