I know dr’s don’t like dishing out antibiotics willy-nilly but if that were the case I’m even less impressed with the surgery for not suggesting a course of them.
When I get a cold it always lingers like this, it’s such a nuisance and it does wear me down a little. I claim no expert medical knowledge but I do know my own body and the inhalers have always helped in the past. I wouldn’t say no to antibiotics though, even if I am prone to an unpleasant side effect from them.
If a cough that starts with a cold or flu lasts longer than 2-3 weeks, a course of antibiotics is usually suggested. I'm surprised they aren't sending you for tests on the shortness of breath tbh.
Very true!!! GP's are always overdosing the antibiotics, but at times they are needsed We had a chest infection a first for use late last year, could not get rid of this light/slight chesty cough, gp gave us anitbiotics, we held off for a few days and then had to take them, all cleared up.
People with astham need to request the punmonia jab as well usally free to the medically vulnerable, asthamitcs and 65+ we think
