Unsolved Murders And Crimes.

Postby Vicky » Sat Mar 31, 2018 6:19 am

I was reading an article during the week about one of Scotland's most notorious unsolved crimes.

Bible John.

Bible John murdered three young women, who had been out dancing at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow in 1968 and 1969.

Despite a huge police enquiry, Bible John was never caught.

Some experts reckon serial killer Peter Tobin might have been Bible John.

Peter Tobin as he would have looked at the time of the murders and a photofit of Bible John.

The killings stoppped when Tobin moved to England.

Peter Tobin was later convicted for the murders of three girls.

One of them was only 15.

Eight prostitutes were murdered in Glasgow between 1991 and 2005.

All they're murders are unsolved.

Some think the girls murders were the work of a serial killer and others think eight separate bastards are on the loose in Glasgow.

What pisses me off about that case is the way the police have treated the murder of Emma Caldwell differently.

Emma was middle class and the other girls were just wee 'Schemies'.

It makes me sick.

Those seven other girls murders were just as horrific as Emma's.

Moira Anderson was a 13 year old girl from my hometown of Coatbridge, who vanished 61 years ago.

Moira had gone to the shops for a message for her granny and was never seen again.

It was a terrible day when Moira went missing, there was a terrible blizzard in Coatbridge.

Moira was last seen getting on a Baxters bus that was being driven by Alexander Gartshore.

Alexander Gartshore was out on bail for raping his children's babysitter.

As it happened, my Granda was doing the morning shift on the bus that Gartshore took over in the afternoon.

My Granda said he waited for Gartshore in the main street, which apparently was common practice among the drivers, because it saved them having to go back to the bus station.

Alexander Gartshore told the police he had taken his car to the meeting point, but my Granda said he arrived on foot.

Gartshore's daughter remembered her fathers car still being in the driveway, when he went to work.

However it was gone a few hours later.

Did he sneak back and get it so he could dispose of Moira's body?

Everyone believed Gartshore killed her, but he was never charged.

A few years ago, the police said if Gartshore was still alive, he would been charged with Moira's murder because they now had enough evidence.

Moira's body is still hidden somewhere in Coatbridge.

I don't think people realise just how many murders go unsolved or in fact how many people just 'disappear' never to be seen or heard of again.

Anything between 250,000 - 300,000 people go missing every year in the the UK. Most are found or return within a year of going missing, or are found dead, mental health issues being a major factor in most.

But there are still 1% of people who are never found, never seen or heard of again. In our small country it seems incomprehensible that around 2,500 and 3,000 people just disappear off the face of the Earth every year. :dunno:

Vicks, do you watch the Robbie Coltrane program, Critical Evidence, on the Crime & Investigation channel? It’s very good and often deals with cold cases.

There is a theory that Bible John was a police officer; don't know how true it is though

A murder that is still unsolved is that of 18 year old German student Inga Maria Hauser.

Inga Maria was a backpacker, & was last seen on the Stranraer to Larne ferry in early April 1988.

She was found murdered on the 20th of April 1988 in a remote area of Ballypatrick Forest in County Antrim Northern Ireland. Because of the remoteness of where she was found, police think that a local person/persons was/were involved.

The murderer(s) has/have never been found, but police believe the killer(s) may live in a remote rural area near Ballymoney, & that somebody may be shielding them.

It must be terrible for her parents, not knowing who killed their daughter, & that no-one has yet been arrested for her murder.

I read an article that said, the first unsolved murder in this country, took place in London in 1536.

The victim was Robert Pakington, he had been shot.

They reckon it was the first murder in London, where a gun was used.

There's been lots of theories, they even exhumed someone from my local cemetery.

The poor man had killed himself, some suggested it was because, he felt guilty over the murders.

No I've never seen that Nucks.

I don't watch much television but I'll take a look because I like crime shows.
