That's right, she's a very good author.

I'm currently reading the second of the Agatha Raisin books.

It was a charity shop i got the first book from and thought and I'd look on Amazon for the others,.

They cost about a fiver a book, so I checked out the Book People and got the first 20 books for £20.

It was a cracking saving.

The first book was dramatised and shown on Sky a few years ago and as far as I know, another seven episodes will be shown later this year.

I've got a copy of Ordeal by Linda Lovelace. I haven't read it yet but I saw the film of her life on TV tonight so I've decided to read the book over the weekend. I read quite quickly especially if I'm really into the book. I like reading in my bath with aromatic oils. I really must read my books as I have hundreds. I had to resist my neighbour's free books as I have a few hundred books already. We have a corner on the landing where we put freebies for each other, everything from books to TVs and furniture. It's not a huge block so it's quite a nice atmosphere with sharing stuff like that. There's encyclopaedias out there for now. Really big heavy books.
Linda Lovelace was a woman forced into making porn & also into prostitution by her violent husband. She was the star in Deep Throat porn movie. Her husband made many millions and Linda Lovelace never saw a penny. Well she had a grand. Compared to multimillions which her husband kept. The millions came from Deep Throat & her being forcibly made to have sex with men for money. They paid a lot to have sex with a famous porn star like Linda Lovelace.
I also recommend Jamie Oliver cookery books. I adapt his recipes a bit to suit what ingredients I have but his books are wonderful & I get some great recipes from them.
Finally I've been reading a lot of aromatherapy & essential oils books recently. I do love my fragrant oils. About 16 years ago I learnt massage & aromatherapy so I find it interesting. I was given a book list at college so have decent books on the subject. I read them quite a bit. The oils cheer me up and relax me.

I've just started reading HATE My Life In The Far Right by Matthew Collins. He is a snitch or turned against the Far Right & supplied the far left with information. Now it's all in a book. I'm surprised he's still alive to be honest. Interesting so far though.

I'm now reading the fifth book in the Agatha Raisin series "Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage"

Agatha was all set to marry her handsome neighbour James Lacey, but forgot to mention, she was still married and told everyone her first husband Jimmy was dead.

Jimmy turns up at the wedding, which is promptly called off and he's found murdered a few hours later and Agatha finds herself the prime suspect.

Well she did threaten to kill him at the "Wedding"

Great books.

I've been incredibly naughty and not been reading as much as I should be lately. Still on 'Perfume' by Patrick Süskind. But it's a certain kind of wonderful to read because of the most remarkable imagery, especially when it comes to describing smells. Utterly marvellous.

I've also started reading 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' - in French!

I started reading "Bully" which is a true story and was made into a film of the same name. It's about some young people who murdered a youth who had bullied them and who involved others who "went along for the ride" and helped in the planning and killing pf the young man. They were all sentenced and sent to prison including for life in some cases. One was sentenced to death but appealed and got life in prison instead. The book is very good. Unfortunately I can't find it, I put it down somewhere and can't find it at all. Oh well, it'll turn up. I'll read a Martina Cole crime thriller for now and pick up Bully again when I locate it. It is good reading.

I'm re, re, re reading Wicked Pleasures by Penny Vincentzi who is my favourite author.

Basically, if you like long books with a great variety of characters set in lots of different places, you'll love them.

I have all her books, and am impatiently waiting for her new one to come out, though according to Amazon there's no publishing date yet!

When her last but one book The Decision came out, I checked every bookshop near to me and eventually found some copies available at Merry Hill, got my husband to take me to buy one, started reading it at 7pm and had finished it by 3am (I'm a quick reader and I couldn't put it down!!)

Thoroughly recommend her novels, I always seem to start re reading them this time of year for some reason.

If anyone likes Jilly Cooper novels, she has one coming out in September called Mounted about horse racing.

I'll probably buy it, although I think her last couple of books haven't been that good, and I don't like the graphic cruelty to animals that has crept into her novels recently, we know it happens, but I don't buy a Jilly Cooper novel for that reason.

For me, her last really good one and one I re read quite often is The Man who made Husband's jealous.

Not a fan of Agatha Raisin. Too twee for my liking. I am currently plowing through Mark Chadbourn, Age of Misrule series. Celtic gods return, trash the world. Helps that I am a character in it briefly.
I really enjoyed Bad Vibes, an excoriating expose of Britpop. Look who's back - a book about Hitler coming back and being frustrated as he becomes famous as a figure of fun.
One author I cannot be bothered with is Cormac McCarthy. The lack of punctuation is a horrible affectation. The praise for his 'brave' writing is Emperor's new clothes. James Joyce is similar, I did actually finish Ulysees.
All time favourites; Crime and Punishment, The Trial, 1984, The Prince, Cancer Ward, Weirdstone of Brisingamen, Prose Edda, Grendel, Beowulf.
