Wish I had become a train driver which was me dream as a kid !!

It looks fairly intense to me. I always give the traditional 'thanks drive' when I hop off at the local station :smilin:

We have had a few suicides at our local station very distressing. When I was a child my Uncle's house backed onto the railway line and my cousin and I would play on the embankment. A police train would patrol the track and the train police would chase us off the railway bank. I don't think we realized how dangerous it was. I was just trying to find a picture of one but they don't exist - if I remember correctly they were dark in color with POLICE letters on the side.

Plus a very large flat garden if you want a working setup, rather than a stationary display.

Some HST/Intercity 125/Class 43 news.

Cascades to Scotrail and East Midlands Railway. GWR to retain some short formation sets.

The EMR HSTs do not comply with the latest DDA requirements so that accounts for the LNER HSTs.

The class is officially the fastest diesel locomotive in the world, with an absolute maximum speed of 148 mph (238 km/h), and a regular service speed of 125 mph (201 km/h). The record run was led by 43102 and trailed by 43159.[1][2][3]

One power car has been sent to the NRM (York) and rightly so.

we're affected by the Virgin franchise thing, but apparently the new operator will use the pendolino fleet and just change the livery and refurb?

I believe so, but here are future changes.

A good place to cascade the 221 Voyagers would be to CrossCountry to strengthen services, namely doubling up of 4 carriage sets to 8.

EMR are also replacing their 222 Meridian fleet, so those can be cascaded to other parts of the rail network.

Crossrail (Elizabeth Line) delayed yet again. It should have opened fully in 2018, but now we're looking at late 2021. Can Network Rail ever deliver an infrastructure project on time and to budget? Apparently not in many cases.

Northern, TransPennine Express and South Western Railway TOCs could possibly all lose their franchises and go back (at least temporarily) into public ownership. Could this be the start of re-nationalization of British Rail? Time will tell.
