Can't be bothered looking but I seem to remember the melting it down for scrap was when it was still just a metal bracelet no diamonds had yet appeared.
Don't forget Maj it started out as a simple metal bracelet and not till some time later did it become studded with diamonds.
What do you think a detective/investigator would think of such a story?

Didn't it just start as a bracelet with no mention of metal or diamonds?

If it was valuable then it wouldn't be wood rubber or plastic I'm thinking.
Metal was a safe assumption but no .... no diamonds till someone mentioned melting it and lo and behold the most valuable part suddenly enters the story unless they were rose diamonds or the like.
