The NHS is no more.

A right load of bollocks...

The NHS is no more.

The Health and Social Care was passed 27 March 2012. Crucially and most seriously, it removes the UK government’s obligation to provide universal healthcare in England, something so fundamental it amounts to the abolition of the NHS. As Dr Jacky Davis, co-chair of the NHS Consultants Association says: "After the passage of the unwanted, unneeded and deeply undemocratic NHS bill, we no longer have a national health service."

There was overwhelming opposition from the medical profession – for instance, from the British Medical Association and all but one of the 26 royal medical colleges. This was not communicated by the mainstream media, particularly the BBC. Although the NHS affects every man, woman and child in England, most remain in the dark about what has happened.

The government has played a big role by repeatedly concealed the purpose of the bill - to make possible the gradual dismantling of the NHS and its replacement in a few years by a market system, based on ability to pay rather than need. According to Michael Portillo: the Tories did not believe they could win an election if they told you what they were going to do [to the NHS]".

The government also used mis-information to justify its reforms. According to Portillo, the Tories had to do something about the "incredible inefficiency" of the NHS. The truth is the NHS is one of the fairest, most efficient and cost-effective healthcare systems in the world. It has half the per capita costs of the US health system - which is not universal - and has a higher life expectancy and lower infant mortality (OECD figures).

The government even defied a Freedom of Information act ruling to make public the risk assessment of the bill, despite the commissione......

David Cameron just agreed to the biggest sell-out of the NHS in history
Earlier this year, David Cameron sold off a massive chunk of our NHS, in the largest healthcare privatisation deal in UK history. The contract handed over a whopping £780 million to private firms with shoddy care records and strong links to the Tory Party, to carry out sensitive procedures like heart operations on the public purse.

Ever since the Tories won majority in parliament, our public services are being shut down and sold to the highest bidder. They think they can.......

Privatisation of NHS continues as hospital contract awarded to Richard Branson

Richard Branson has just been awarded a £126million contract to take over services at hospitals in Kent.

Virgin Care, which beat Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust to the lucrative deal, will be able to run health services in the hospitals for the next seven years.

A spokesperson for the NHA Party told Metro.co.uk: ‘Virgin is very clever at putting together tender documents for public services and so far has won nearly 330 contracts for NHS services across the country. All operate under the NHS ‘logo’.

‘There are many other private health companies also operating as ‘the NHS’, behind the name. The change from a publicly provided NHS to a privately provided one is being done piece by piece and the extent of the change is being hidden by keeping the logo.

Shocking but not at all surprising. An insider managed to reveal information about a private health company meeting with government officials before 2010 election and the government bod told them it was treasure trove waiting to be distributed, which they would do if they won the election. They didn't, it was a coalition, but they managed to squeak over the line this time. It was a panorama or investigation type programme on tv, not sure name now but probably out there somewhere.

It's not the cost of the NHS they don't like, it's the fact the money isn't going to the corporate few that irritates them. They'll be happier with higher costs so long as it's going to 'the right pockets'. Same as all other privatisations. Higher costs, lesser service and customers paying on top of the tax they still pay that once funded it.

Millions of NHS records sold to insurance firms
Millions of patient records were sold to insurance firms who used it to set their critical illness premiums in a series of 'unacceptable lapses', an independent review finds.

Don't see what the problem is, all the best health services across Europe use a mixture of public and private money and have much better cancer outcomes.

The French laugh at how bad the NHS is.

Like the BBC it's living off past glories.

The health service in France is better funded and a very medical model that leads to less funding in the caring aspect of care especially in the community. Community nursing services in France are fragmented, inequitable and do not have the same investment so staff are not so skilled. This leads to increased admissions which is ultimately more expensive. The NHS in England is working to a more community based model but unfortunately the funding is not following the patient.

"The only serious black mark against the NHS was its poor record on keeping people alive...the authors say that the healthcare system cannot be solely blamed for this issue, which is strongly influenced by social and economic factors."

Ha, ha, ha - of course it is when it doesn't accord with your agenda.

Don't worry - Virgin Health Care to the rescue.
