It's amazing how animals from different species will look after the youngsters from another kind. I like these photos. This is a great thread.

It's the same with humans, just one look at a kitten or a baby bird and it's aaaaah, so cute. :wubbers:

Another cheerful story - there are only 21 big, bull tuskers left on the planet.

Simply incredible. :shake head:

Only 21? We are encroaching on wild animals' territory all the time as the human population grows plus of course there are poachers who sell ivory and rhino horn etc. I don't know what the answer is other than what people are already doing. Unfortunately too many animals are facing extinction.

Did anyone see the programme about the grizzly bears today? It was wonderful. There were a small number of men filming them and there were also some wild wolves watching the bears and the men. I love things like that on TV.

Oh my god. I have stroked a chicken that rubbed past me at a squatted former garden centre where the hippies had rehomed some chickens pinched from a battery farm. I also called them to their pen when a child confided he had let them out and they all came and got back in. I was shaking their bowl with some grain in but they still seemed to get what was going on. Unfortunately one day they were all killed by foxes. They were allowed to roam most of the time so had freedom at the squatted plot of land. Sadly it led to foxes getting them. I still eat chicken though and buy eggs but only free range. I think battery / factory farms should be banned.

I totally agree - more and more we are finding out just how intelligent many animals are - consciousness is a matter of degree rather than any fundamental difference between us and other species.
