He was not pulled up on his bullshit argument that if people did not have guns they would simply use knives or acid 'like in the UK'.

So there is no acid or knife crime in the US then?

I have news for the moron, I have yet to see a bloke wielding a knife stab someone from half a mile away or succeed in killing dozens and injuring hundreds of innocent victims in the blink of an eye.

Fucking hell - and it's mouth-breathers like that who run the the most powerful nation on Earth :shake head:

There is some knife crime, but very little. I'm not saying an acid attack has never happened, but I've never heard of one.

I think if you managed to round up 270 million guns, that we would start using knives more, and for those that wanted to engage in a mass killing, they would have to use bombs I guess.

You know, if you add up all the events that happen in the EU vs the US, they are not that different. What drives are murder rate is the minor skirmishes that no one ever hears about, except the locals.

There have been far more murders in North Texas during the past one year than happened in Las Vegas Sunday night, but even I don't know much about them. They are on page 3 of the paper usually.

No. It isn't. :bullshit:

Paris, Manchester, the Bastille day attack, Orlando, Dallas, Vegas. I'm sure I'm missing some and I said "about".

No doubt the American events have higher death counts for the most part, but there is still time for a European to hit 60 or better.

Maddog. Trump will be talking about guns shortly. As I told you a while back. He will be the man to take your guns. What better person to take them than someone who supports you having them?

Watch this space.

Taking guns is impossible without changing the constitution.

I'm betting we see a ban on bump stocks. It will be seen as "common sense legislation to tackle mass shootings" blah, blah, blah.

Won't do a damn thing, but let the politicians act like they did something so they can move on other things that don't do much except waste time and money.

Could have been. There's already been parts of the Patriot Act overturned because they were found to be unconstitutional.

We need to have a conversation about what happened in Las Vegas. To let such a tragedy pass without asking tough questions about how it happened and what we might do to prevent something similar in the future would be foolish and irresponsible....

But it has to be a real conversation...

We Second Amendment supporters need to accept that it’s OK to ask those questions — and gun control advocates need to accept that there actually is a right to bear arms in this country.

If, after an appropriate time of mourning and respect, we can approach the inevitable revival of the gun rights debate with just that little bit of mutual respect, it will be a fitting tribute to the heroism and selflessness we have witnessed in Las Vegas and beyond.

This sounds almost presidential. About 3% of us thought he was more presidential than Hillary or Trump.

I think us in the 3% were right.

Las Vegas Strip shooter targeted aviation fuel tanks, source says

Las Vegas Strip mass murderer Stephen Paddock used his Mandalay Bay hotel room to fire bullets at jet fuel tanks Sunday night, a knowledgeable source told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The bullets left two holes in one of two circular white tanks. One of the bullets penetrated the tank, but did not cause a fire or explosion near the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, another knowledgeable source said late Wednesday.
The tanks are roughly 1,100 feet from the concert site, where Paddock killed 58 people and wounded almost 500.

Within the past couple of days, a construction crew repaired and painted the holes, and FBI agents inspected the tanks and took measurements of the line of fire from Mandalay Bay, the sources said.

Paddock, a 64-year-old Mesquite resident, had broken two windows in his 32nd-floor suite — one in line with the concert site and the other with a direct view of the fuel tanks, one source said. The bases of private aircraft operators are close to the tanks.

FBI spokeswoman Sandra Breault declined to comment. “We can’t comment on an ongoing investigation,” she said late Wednesday.

Paddock’s shooting rampage was the deadliest in modern U.S. history. He killed himself as Las Vegas police closed in on his room.

Paddock was a retired accountant who had no criminal background and a passion for video poker. He lived in Mesquite with his girlfriend, Marilou Danley, and regularly came to the Las Vegas Strip to gamble.
This is a breaking story. Check back here for updates.

Gave up 12 minutes in. There's only so much self-pity, high-pitched whining, and hamming it up for the cameras from this guy I can stand. I think I'll stick with my initial gut instinct that he is a Grade A jerk.

Thanks for posting that, there's a few answers about the killer in there, I still think i'll stick with my initial thought that he's bewildered at what his brother, who he loved, did.

Isis would claim anything though wouldn't they? There's no evidence of radicalisation yet.

His brother thinks it could be a brain tumour or something because it was so shockingly out of character.

True, you are

Do you think it's going to change the people's views on gun control?

It's changed them a little maybe. But the problem is when someone tries to write a law, it gets real difficult to pass because you have to articulate what you want controlled and how. The most I see coming out of this is a ban on bump stocks, which the NRA knows is pretty meaningless, but if the anti gunners think it will make a difference they will get thrown that bone.
