Actors of both sexes have chosen to sleep their way to a successful career. Obviously having sex should not have been necessary to advance their career, and those in positions of power should not have demanded it, and should be publicly shamed. Nevertheless, actors made that choice. And if Weinstein and others are going to be forced to come clean, then those actors who slept their way to the top should be honest about their choices too.

The so called "Casting Couch" has existed since Hollywood started.

It's not a new phenomenon, it's been rumoured the likes of Marilyn Monroe did it to further her career.

Sorry just catching up on this but well said the both of you. The casting couch is sleazy but it’s been around for years as you say Vicky and both men and women have been ‘victims’. There’s a huge difference between sexual assault and someone who makes a choice to do something to further their career.

They didn’t have a problem accepting the fame and the money that came with it so I do think it’s a bit out of order when 20 years later they start trying to turn it into some kind of crime and idiots call anyone who doesn’t agree with them a victim blamer.

whoever is making the point doesn’t really matter as it is a bloody good one. Think about it. You can’t have one thread where a woman is victim blamed, slut shamed, called all sorts of sexist names and laughed at for what she’s wearing in one breath and then have many of the same people act all disgusted or suddenly caring over the actresses in another. No wonder it’s been pointed out.

DS has always been full of hypocrites and this is a fairly obvious example of it. I’m not surprised women who have been genuine victims of rape don’t come forward with people like them and you around.

Thread closed as expected. Good to see admin are deleting posts from many different FMs, scottie, Crista and more. It doesn't always work that way.

We have removed a large number of comments from this thread for being unconstructive and in some cases potentially libelous. We have a zero tolerance policy on comments that attempt to victim blame or dismiss sexual harassment or sexual assault. We understand it's a sensitive topic but posts questioning why victims of sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape don't come forward or speak up "sooner" appear to be misplaced. There can be many reasons for this, many of which have been discussed earlier in the thread.

Some of the more inappropriate comments have outright called those speaking out liars or they are doing it for attention. Unless proven otherwise it's important to take what's being reported seriously and to listen to those speaking out. Attempts at dismissing these claims doesn't encourage productive discussion and usually derails the thread.
