You're doing well to hang in that long
I was being generous I'm sure the guy presents some good and insightful material, but the voice and the frenetic, machine gun speed delivery make me zone out.
Bill Maher's quieter, more laid back style is hard to beat, imo.
Maher is good, but he's too dour and humble (as is Anderson Cooper). A brazen, unapologetic style suits comedy better imo.
Also, facial expressions count. The hilariously bewildered expression of Oliver when describing absolute absurdities all add to the mix.
His fast talking style is the very thing that appeals to me - works well with the content of the show.
His british accent in the US, among dozens of comics with US accents - that works well too. Makes him stand out.
In the end comedy preferences is all down to personal taste I guess.

Whilst we're on the subject, respect to Buzzcock guy Sean Hughes.
You went too soon, RIP.
Old Bill, is one of the biggest hypocrites on tv. The mans a millionaire so he's in the 1%. He's a gun owner yet doesn't want anyone else to own a gun for protection. And he used to live at Hefner's grotto when he went there for the sex parties. I remember when Kim jung senior claimed to be able to hit California with a nuke missile back in the 90's. Maher was terrified about it on his show. I think he wanted NK taken out in a first strike scenario.
