Is it still OK to wish everyone a Merry Christmas??

A right load of bollocks...

Is it still OK to wish everyone a Merry Christmas??

Postby Holly » Sun Nov 12, 2017 9:00 am

I'm really curious about what most of our members and guest think. Are you quite happy to wish your neighbours, your local shop keepers, your hair dresser, your postie, and who ever else you run into every day a "Merry Christmas"...?...or would you say Happy Holidays?

Happy Holidays??? What's it for? To celebrate the birth of Jesus of course ...Happy Holidays my arse!

I personally say Merry Christmas no matter what...and I really don't give a shit what nationality or colour people are. I live in a Christian Country and that's that, I'm very sorry if anyone feels offended, but hey, plenty of other Countries the offended can go to, no?? Why should I have to be sensitive towards other religions? Seriously, I don't get it, why is it expected of us Christian people to show sensitivity? Why can't we Christians expect sensitivity from people of another religion? People who are guests in Christian Countries...I really don't get it...Why should we not be allowed to carry on our tradition?

43 day to Christmas :holly:

I refuse to have anything to do with this "Happy Holidays" bollocks.

It's Christmas and it's one of the biggest events in the Christian Calendar and as a Christian in a Christian country, i will continue to celebrate it.

I still put up my decorations and i still wish my family and friends a Happy Christmas.

If people don't like the fact the United Kingdom is a Christian country, you know where the airports are.

You are allowed to wish anyone you want a Happy Christmas. Why do you think you're not allowed to?

And in answer to your question I'll be wishing people a Happy Christmas. I won't be wishing anyone Happy Holidays.

I’m not a Christian, do I have to leave? :gigglesnshit:

Seriously though, I’ve never encountered anyone actually offended by a greeting or a tree or whatever thing you do at Christmas. It’s much more a cultural and commercial thing these days than it is a religious thing.

From a commercial perspective, advertisers will push the inclusive “Happy Holidays” angle because it means more people from more diverse backgrounds/cultures/religions will participate in said commercialism and spend money, ergo making the advertisers more money. It has nothing to do with expecting you to cut back or compromise your beliefs or traditions.

By all means though, let us know if anyone is offended by your tree.

Outside of the internet and certain media publications I have never heard any mention of any real person feeling they can't say Happy Christmas

Is there any reason to suspect that people from other religions don't like chocolate oranges?

I'm pretty sure that most people just get swept away by the feel good vibe of the time of year, a non-Christian enjoying the aura is no different to a Christian who isn't actually religious in any way (the vast majority) enjoying the festivities

If you want to think other people are offended by our celebrations then fine go ahead, but remember that is your feeling not necessarily theirs

Happy Holidays is a myth perpetrated by the right wing tabloids to stir up discontent and hate amongst their brain dead readership. I’m from probably the most racially diverse area in Britain, and round here everyone embraces Christmas. Be they white, black, green or fucking blue, Christian, Muslim, Sikh or Buddhists!!!

The local Muslim corner shop fella wears a fucking Santa hat and has Slade banging out in his shop all through December. Don’t let the media masses brain wash you into thinking our precious Christmas is being radicalised. Because it isn’t, it’s bollocks.

Merry Christmas fuckers... :Wiiiine!:

Well said Dean it's like that across the nation.
The media keep gnawing away at it to divide the population.

I admirer that bloke for doing it, it shows his willingness to fit in, however, remember that poor shop keeper in Scotland who was killed last year by one of his own Muslim people for wishing his customers a Happy Easter? :ooer:

Can’t say I do, but I’ll take ya word for it... one or two mad fuckers doesn’t make the whole religion anti-Christmas though. People aren’t getting killed or even abused for celebrating Christmas in my experience... :dunno:
