Out of Season polls don't mean a lot tbh. You have the diehard Tory and Labour voters who will always vote the same way, then you have the large number of middle ground voters, who either don't know, or will change sides depending on the political climate at the time.

At the moment, with May being such a poor leader, you would have thought the middle ground voters would be all over Corbyn like a rash. Even that cunt Blair reckons Labour should be 20 points clear at this stage. That they're not, doesn't auger well for them at the next election, whenever that is.

There was an interesting article in the ST last week, where it was reported that Corbyn's personal assistants were more like carers fussing over an absent-minded old grandpa, and that Corbyn himself is as ineffectual as The Wizard of Oz.

There's no way the British electorate are going to, in effect, vote in Marxist McDonnell. Once an election is called, the focus on McDonnell will intensify. Plus, you'd imagine, the Tory leadership will be stronger than it is now, as it can't be any weaker.

Of course you are correct red. I dont think such polls prove anything. May has always and has indeed increased her personal polling rating vs corbyn so i think trends can be indicative.

I posted really as an antidote to the ridiculous hubris behind a thread a week or two ago which showed a labour lead. Based upon which the FM opined a march ge win for labour and brexit cancelled.

Lol remoaner trots. Good for a laugh aint they.

From the same poll:

Asked who has the upper hand in the negotiations so far 50% think the EU are doing better and Britain are accepting their demands, 26% think there has been give and take on both sides and just 4% think Britain has the upper hand.

Only 4% of Brits think we have the upper hand against the EU

Confident :ooer:

Statistically it's basically the same poll - well within the margin of error.

The problem for the Tories is this time last year they were nearly double digits ahead, everything is trending in the wrong direction for them and that's before the effects of soaring inflation begin to be felt

And meanwhile the Brextremists must pretend that this sell-out (from their perspective) is the Brexit they voted for all along. Sad on one level.

How long before the Brexiters realise that a guarantee of no hard border in Ireland and freedom of movement throughout the island of Ireland is either membership of the EU in all but name or the dream of every IRA member since 1916

Why has corbyn never managed to close the gap between him and may as preferred PM to less than 10 points?

Because of the media protecting special interests.

So far 2018 has produced two polls showing small Tory leads, three polls showing the parties equal, five polls showing small Labour leads, suggesting that the actual picture is that the Conservatives and Labour have very similar levels of support.

The widespread view in the Labour party is that the deadlocked polls are a result of the polarization between left and right: the last election realigned politics into two big blocs and that a combination of the breakdown of the prevailing economic model and first past the post means that it will stay that way.

There is confidence in the party that time favours Labour.

The government will have to deliver a Brexit deal that falls short of May’s rhetoric, the public realm, particularly the NHS, will continue to be under growing pressure, and the housing market will continue to shut out growing numbers of voters under 45.

Basically we want Treeza to stay where she is, doing exactly what she has been doing. And we can wait, if that's what it takes.

disagree. Being in opposition is easy. Labour should be pulling well ahead but they are not. They will have to go pro or against brexit soonish and will lose half their support to either libdems or conservative when that happens.

Time is not favouring them. People are starting to see the crazy lefty identity politics swallow the party up. The move away from blue collar brits is becoming clearer and clearer as time passes.

Labour aint going to be in government in their current guise.
