Anyone ever been to Maderia? ..... my mum & dad went there about 40 years ago, said it was the most beautiful Island they'd ever been to.

I'm sure it will better than our quick visit, where do you want to go ?

Years ago after a family tragedy I saw a so called cruise thing from Newcastle to Bergen on Ebay for much to nothing. I was fed up and booked it on whim, so off we all went, my late then 80 year old dad, late bro with mental health issues and me , my husband , then 4 year old lad and my sister. My Dad got pissed on the first night and we had nearly carry him back to his cabin, he used be chief engineer in the Merch , so maybe he got a bit excited being back on a ship again. It was a very rough journey and the husband was dreadfully ill. There was some weird dance lessons on the ship , I think some had come onboard especially for the dance lessons. We enjoyed watching and taking the piss, my bro was in his element , good memories :smilin: We had a day in Bergen which was lovely but very expensive. Journey back was horrid with loads of young pissed up Norwegians wanting to go to clubbing and buy cheap stuff from Primark. We arrived back in Newcastle, my late Dad couldn't walk to passport control so a wheelchair was found and we were escorted to the front of the queue, he showed his passport then forgot he had a wheelchair and limped off without it, we got alot of nasty looks from those in the queue.

Not my usual holiday but it was fun in desperate times :smilin:

I haven't been but the gardens and scenery are said to be lovely.

It won't happen this year but I would love to travel to Australia or New Zealand one day.

This year though I would love to visit places in the UK more and travel this country. I have never been to Bath so that is an option. Or maybe Belfast and Edinburgh

I've been to Madeira but it was 4 decades ago so I can't be of much help. Mauritius is my favorite island by far.

Edinburgh and Bath are great places to visit, Belfast is on my list.

Hope you get to Australia and New Zealand some day soon. :smilin:

The family were invited to a wedding during the Summer, They own the summer house next to ours in the Hamptons. We accepted thinking it would be held in the neighbors garden or some place near by.
Not so, The wedding is in Napa Valley California. So that's where were heading in June or July (wife knows dates etc) If I see any change out of $10,000 for the 4 day stay there I'll be surprised.

Well mate, if you've got a summer house in the Hamptons then I suspect 10 grand isn't exactly going to have you scrimping and scraping until then?

You can see the northern lights from Cumbria, Markey, here's a pic...

I would quite like to do that and go to the blue lagoon.

Not decided on holidays for this year, will be UK based and somewhere I haven't been before early in the year then Later in the year will go to my usual holiday place

Iceland is amazing. We never went to the Blue Lagoon as we heard it is usually really crowded. If anyone is driving the Golden Circle route though, I'd highly recommend Fontana Baths. We had a great time there.

Has anyone here been to Lanzarote? Did you enjoy it? It's not usually the kind of place I'd choose myself (I prefer cities/museums and stuff), but the OH picked it as 'his' holiday so I'm going along with it. Just hope he has the same attitude when he's on the 8th floor of some AirBnB apartment with gunshots ringing out in the streets below!
