NHS IN CRISIS

NHS crisis is now the worst on record: A&E waiting times reach their highest levels, nearly 17,000 patients are left in the back of ambulances, and 24 hospital trusts announce they have NO free beds

New data from NHS England shows the health service is operating at a poorer level than at the same point in 2016, which was branded a 'humanitarian crisis' and saw the British Red Cross drafted in to help.

The alarming statistics show:

One in five patients at major casualty units waited longer than four hours - the safe limit set by the Government - to be seen in December
The statistics showed that for all A&E units, 85.1 per cent of patients were seen within the four-hour period - equaling last January's record low.
More than 300,000 patients were forced to wait for at least four hours in all A&E units - the highest amount since figures began in 2010.
Ambulance delays have also risen to record proportions, with more than 5,000 patients left stuck in the back of the vehicles waiting to be transferred to A&E.
While bed occupancy levels have hit their worst point yet this winter, with 24 trusts declaring they had no free beds at some point last week, the figures show.

The 'disappointing' figures have been escalating rapidly in the past few weeks, with the crisis now at the forefront of a political row over funding.

Prime Minister Theresa May and Health and Social Care Secretary Jeremy Hunt have been forced to publically apologise amid the crisis, which has seen furious medics beg for extra funding to cope.

And May didn't even have the guts to stand by her decision to get rid of one of the main problems but instead gave Hunt a promotion and new title.

Greening, not a grammar school advocate and someone who got on well with the education profession, had to go though.

Ideology is killing this country and it's public services. Not sure this minority government can last much longer.

fluoride was suppose to prevent teeth cavities
fuck all to do with water purification

I knew that. I meant you need something to prevent cavities in the water.

do you..
fluoride alone does fuck all to prevent cavities
brushing your teeth and flossing
works far better

Yet tooth decay in this country is worse than ever.
I suppose fluoride in the water can't combat sugar consumption.
Ok fluoride out, vit d and c in.

Thought it might be worth looking for evidence of that....

AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION - Studies conducted throughout the past 60 years have consistently indicated that fluoridation of community water supplies is safe and effective in preventing dental decay in both children and adults. It is the most efficient way to prevent one of the most common childhood diseases – tooth decay (5 times as common as asthma and 7 times as common as hay fever in 5- to17-year-olds).

Early studies, such as those conducted in Grand Rapids, showed that water fluoridation reduced the amount of cavities children get in their baby teeth by as much as 60% and reduced tooth decay in permanent adult teeth nearly 35%. Today, studies prove water fluoridation continues to be effective in reducing tooth decay by 20-40%, even in an era with widespread availability of fluoride from other sources, such as fluoride toothpaste.

UK - Among children aged one to four, child hospital admissions due to tooth decay are halved in fluoridated areas compared to non-fluoridated. Water fluoridation has the support of the World Health Organisation, professional health bodies in the UK like the British Medical Association and British Dental Association, and the US Centers for Disease Control.

Think I prefer to take on board proper studies, peer reviewed evidence and the recommendation of in-field professionals instead of made-up guesses based on illogical distrust, ta. And I'll keep getting vit D from the sun, vit C from fruit.

Don't worry.

The sun we get from April to October is more than enough for our bodies to produce enough Vitamin D.

The rest of the time we have
oily fish – such as salmon, sardines, herring, mackerel and fresh tuna
red meat
liver
egg yolks

Actually that looks like the 7 course posh dinner I had last night. The fish course was the best.
And wine, that's gotta have some benefits surely, in moderation of course.

I take vit d and c supplements in winter, just to be on the safe side.

There are still UV rays, which are the important thing. People can get out at lunch time if they have a job.

Entirely sensible - in fact the NHS site advises everyone over 5 to take a Vit D supplement in the Winter.

NHS bosses urged GPs to purchase a CHEAPER flu jab that doesn't protect against deadly 'Japanese flu', leaked files reveal

A regional NHS England team advised doctors to purchase the trivalent jab
This jab offers no protection against the B Yamagata strain, or 'Japanese flu'
They said buying the quadrivalent jab would add 'significant cost pressures'
The vaccine costs the NHS £2.75 more per dose but it would have helped
Doctors fear the decision may have fueled the severity of this year's outbreak

Health chiefs ordered GPs to order cheap flu vaccines which are ineffective against the strain of flu causing most havoc in the UK, leaked files show.

NHS England asked doctors to purchase the trivalent jab - which offers no protection against the B Yamagata strain, referred to as 'Japanese flu'.

In guidance sent to local bosses, they warned that buying the quadrivalent jab would add 'significant cost pressures' amid concerns over funding.

The vaccine costs the NHS £2.75 more per dose, but it would have protected against Japanese flu - responsible for half of flu hospitalisations this winter.

Doctors fear the controversial decision may have fueled the severity of this year's outbreak, considered one of the worst to hit the UK in recent decades.

Tories just keep making a rod for their own backs.

Total and utter incompetence with complete disregard for the public they're supposed to be serving.

Believe it or not the vast majority of people survive the flu old young and pregnant despite the propaganda.
Vaccination has a success rate of somewhere between 11 and 60% but ... who comes up with that figure and how?
