Officer accidentally fired weapon in Las Vegas gunman’s Mandalay Bay suite

A Metropolitan Police Department officer accidentally discharged his weapon inside the Mandalay Bay gunman’s suite the night of the Oct. 1 shooting, the Clark County sheriff confirmed Monday.

The police firearm went off inside the suite sometime after officers made entry, Sheriff Joe Lombardo said. But the round or rounds were not fired in the same room where gunman Stephen Paddock was found dead with what has been described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“It happened, and we’re investigating it, just like we do with any officer-involved use of force,” Lombardo told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “Nobody was struck.”

It’s unclear what caused the officer, who has not been named, to discharge his weapon.

Lombardo also confirmed Monday that the 32nd floor of Lombardo also confirmed Monday that the 32nd floor of where the gunman’s corner suite was located, did not have security cameras facing the gunman’s suite or the stairwell door that Paddock had apparently sealed sometime before the shooting. The only cameras on the floor faced the elevators.

FBI Las Vegas spokeswoman Sandra Breault has repeatedly declined to speak about the investigation.

Fifty-eight people were killed and more than 500 were injured during the shooting, which began shortly after 10 p.m. on the last night of the Route 91 Harvest festival.

Lombardo previously said a group of officers breached the gunman’s suite at 11:20 p.m., about an hour after the gunman stopped firing his weapons for unknown reasons.

The gunman’s motive remains a mystery, and nearly a month after the shooting, several more straightforward questions about the shooting have not been addressed or answered.

County coroner’s office had not released the gunman’s official cause or manner of death.

Wasn't he just the patsy ATXn;D? :dunno:

Convenient stuff being found but the latest press conference by Las Vegas Police (minus FBI 'minder' this time) seemed to tell a different story. Very shaky on commenting on anything not in his script and looking more than a little troubled/nervous.

Still no footage from security cameras inside the hotel or from anywhere in fact. 'They were broken at the time'.

Las Vegas Update: Irregularities Cause Story Behind Massacre To Stink To High Heaven

The Las Vegas shooting investigation – with only four months of radio silence from authorities to show after the horrific incident and no clear answers – is still as murky as ever with no clear sign of when the veil will drop...if ever."

Speaking with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Rouse detailed:

Paddock’s motivation has not been linked to any sort of affiliation or ideology, and evidence still suggests the gunman had no co-conspirators… FBI investigators have about 22,000 hours of surveillance and cellphone footage to comb through, along with about 250,000 separate photos… Local and federal authorities have to sift through about 40 terabytes of data.

At the turn of the new year, it was revealed that Mandalay Bay staff – where Paddock had been staying – had at least 10 interactions with him during his stay.

Paddock’s huge arsenal of guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition somehow wasn’t noticed throughout 10 interactions with hotel staff
– an immediate answer is needed as to how.

And no security camera footage, outside the Hotel or from inside it. It's all very odd. :dunno:

Some of this is odd.

Sneaking in guns and ammo in suitcases would not be difficult however.

Clark County Defies Order To Release Vegas Shooter Coroner's Report

"The shooter’s body was cremated Dec. 21. How can the autopsy report not be 'finalized' when the body was cremated more than five weeks ago?"

According to the Daily Caller, District Court Judge Timothy Williams ordered the coroner Tuesday to immediately release the autopsy. Fudenberg is conferring with others in his office, and no date had been given for his compliance with the judge’s order, the corner’s office told The Daily Caller.

The office also told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the report wouldn't be released until it was “finalized.”

“The coroner’s office has fought to keep autopsy reports confidential,” according to the the Review-Journal.

It's difficult to imagine what component of the autopsy could, at this point, be left unfinished; after all, Paddock's body was destroyed weeks ago. And yet, the coroner has chosen to pay $32,000 in legal costs instead of turning over the final report.

"The shooter’s body was cremated Dec. 21. How can the autopsy report not be 'finalized' when the body was cremated more than five weeks ago?" Review-Journal Editor-in-Chief Keith Moyer publicly stated. "The law is squarely on the side of the public’s right to open government."

Why would the coroner do that?

After the event, the coroners office was on complete lock down complete with police guard for weeks. They refused to comment or even answer the door. It's all very odd.
