THOSE HOLLOW PROMISES TO JAPANESE CAR COMPANIES

THOSE HOLLOW PROMISES TO JAPANESE CAR COMPANIES

Postby Cannydc » Thu Feb 08, 2018 6:57 pm

Are coming back to haunt the Leaver brigade....

The Japanese ambassador has warned Theresa May that his country’s firms will quit Britain if a botched Brexit makes it “unprofitable” to stay.

Koji Tsuruoka laid bare growing nervousness about the impact of EU withdrawal on the Japanese car giants, banks and tech companies after meeting the Prime Minister in Downing Street.

“If there is no profitability of continuing operation in [the] UK, not Japanese only, no private company can continue operations,” Mr Tsuruoka said.

“So it is as simple as that. And this is all high stakes that I think all of us need to keep in mind.”

The warning comes after the Japanese government, in a leaked letter, called on Ms May to keep Britain in the EU single market and customs union and maintain a free flow of workers.

But the Prime Minister has vowed to pull the UK out of the EU’s economic structures and end free movement of citizens.....

And of course, it isn't only the car companies. Japanese banks insist that they must have a passport to deal from the UK into the EU, or it's offski.

My bet is Germany (Frankfurt) for the banks, and Spain for the car companies.

They need to remember that we fought and won a war against them.

Two nukes were obviously not enough for these slitty eyed bastards.

British drivers may need new licences and registration certificates to travel in Europe after Brexit under contingency plans being drawn up by the government that experts warn would create “extremely labour-intensive” extra red tape.

In the first of a series of steps to deal with the possibility of failing to reach a deal with the EU, the UK is signing up to a United Nations convention on road traffic, which theoretically also affects zebra crossings and parking.

The 1968 Vienna convention, which Britain previously avoided joining because it was too burdensome, has become an urgent necessity because the EU will no longer recognise UK-issued licences after Brexit and could ban all drivers and vehicles without an alternative agreement.

Meanwhile....

UK negotiators have been warned that the EU draft withdrawal agreement will stipulate that Northern Ireland will, in effect, remain in the customs union and single market after Brexit to avoid a hard border.

The uncompromising legal language of the draft agreement is likely to provoke a major row, something all parties to the negotiations have been trying to avoid.

As it stands, the UK is expected by Brussels to sign off on the text which will see Northern Ireland remain under EU law at the end of the 21-month transition period, wherever it is relevant to the north-south economy, and the requirements of the Good Friday agreement.

WOW - Greasy Smog ain't gonna like that ! Another Brexishambles.

Exactly !!

They see Brexit as a disaster for them too, as they will be able to trade freely WITHOUT TARIFFS OR CUSTOMS DELAYS inside the EU. And MOVE.

We always said this was the case - but hey, let's call the warnings Project Fear, first ridicule them and then steadfastly ignore them.

And when the tide comes in, King David will stop that too.

Japanese new car sales grew in the UK 2017 to almost 450,000 as consumers in the UK and around the world can't get enough of the British built machines because of their quality and reliability as the 30 odd year mutual relationship between the two countries grows from strength to strength.

More Japanese buy cars made in the UK than those made in Japan because British made cars have the reputation of being the best built in the world.

It would be a very brave CEO indeed who would want to shake that little apple tree.

Mostly sold in the EU, with Japan using us as a kind of 'aircraft carrier'.

And that little apple tree will be chopped down come Brexit.

Like the man says - no profit = goodbye. And they won't need us anymore, because...

The European Union and Japan have agreed terms for a free trade deal set to create the world's biggest open economic area.

The deal - the largest struck by the EU - is expected to liberalise almost all trade between the bloc and the world's third-largest economy. Cars are one of Japan's biggest exports to the 27-nation block.

Wow the fear mongering goes on, on on and on. and it has to be correct it's in the guardian. The same paper that supported all the prophecies that said we would lose half a million jobs and so forth. Yep a really good news info paper I don't think. Plus while you have been foaming at the mouth about brexit. Something has been going on in the UK that is working out well. It's called a free trade zone with it;s own port offloading and loading facilities.. Go read up about it and what it can effect in the business world. It will surprise you. The UAE (Dubai) has one of the largest free trade zones in the world. It;s called Jebel Ali Free trade Zone. It produces billions for the Emirate of Dubai and the UAE. Here It will be a tax free tax free haven for those companies, and their goods and services can be sold into the UK mainland, Only then does the inport tax become involved. At the rate that the UK wants it to be. Plus any company can export out of the Free zone, without any excess port handling charges. It will grow huge no doubt about that. Plus I do not believe the EU will mess with the Japanese or other car importers into their countries. Stupid to do so.

I really can't believe I am reading this rubbish.

A free trade haven to deal with IMPORTS - who knows (it won't happen anyway) but as far as EXPORTS to the EU are concerned ? Never. We would have to negotiate a TRADE DEAL for anything similar to happen. And you may not have noticed, but we already have exactly that ALREADY IN PLACE. Trouble is, negotiation of such a thing will bring back in the EU red lines for free movement of goods and labour. Oh, and we will lose 12% of GDP because the Passport for financial trade with the EU will be no more...

So remind me - we are leaving in order to re-join under the same terms, except we lose all future influence over decision making ? Yes, Project Fear warned of that too.

Time for you silly, head in the sand Leavers to realise that it was never Project Fear. It was Project Reality.

ps a couple more links, because the Guardian scares you. Enjoy reality !!!

You idiot, you still do not get it do you. We already have a free zone are operated by DP world in West Thurrock in Essex. DP World being Dubai Ports Authority who operate the free zone. It,s going fantastic. Get to know whats happening before you spout of. Also did you know the Nissan factory in Sunderland operate under a free trade licence. They do not have too high an import duty very negligible to land engines or raw materials required to put their vehicles together that is why they have so been successful, and of course they have a British workforce. Win win all round. The EU spit blood over that and have been trying to do something about it. But the Japanese have something to say about what they want not the EU. And soon so will we. Thank Fuck. So say what you like' ridicule what you do not know about' and you will have egg all over your face in end. It's coming the demise of Corbyn, the demise of the EU. And possibly the demise of Canny from this site as the shame of all his prophecies not being correct will be to much to bear ( You dont work for the treasury or the foreign office do you where all their forecasts turn out to be wrong). :doomed:

Pie in the sky stuff.

However, as we happen to have the most boastful, fanciful chief negotiator in David Davis, I am prepared to hear what he says about us having a huge Dubai Ports Free Trade Area in order to trade with the EU.

Nothing.

Oh, OK. Not even being considered by the Pie In The Sky, Have Our Cake and Eat It Brigade.

Probably a bit unlikely then.

One final point. If you really believe that the EU will continue to accept 'special' deals with UK car manufacturers, you really should take a look at what they have stated as their position on bespoke deals. Not a chance.
