Maybe the main actor and the way he delivered his speeches. Always left me wondering what was the point of dying for his beliefs when everyone around just didn’t care and wanted to appease the mad monarch. Whenever I watch it now I just wish he’d save himself by agreeing to the divorce and the break from Rome so he could live. But he never does. :bawlin:

Yeah, particulary as it happened anyway. Funny isn't it that it parallels closely, for different reasons, the situation between Henry II and Thomas Beckett 400 years earlier (there are good films about that too) It seems the throne and the church haven't always been easy bedfellows and the throne always wins.

PS, Don't shed too many tears for More, he had a few people burnt at the stake for heresy and admitted he'd had children and retarded people beaten for minor religious infringements.

Anyways, I better stop off topicking the thread.

This clip from what in my opinion is a very under acclaimed film is I think the best in the film. Though a bit long it perfectly takes the whole mood of the previous scenes to it's climax, the music doing a fine job in extending it.

Good pick TJ, that scene is a great culmination of a films plot, all without words too. Shows the beautiful American countryside too, loves me a bit of nature I do.

The tension of this LOTR scene always chills me, and then the piercing screams of the Nazgûl- the ring wraiths, drawn to the power of the Ring. Brrrr.

Great choice of film. They couldn't have picked a better director than Peter Jackson. I read the trilogy years ago and I swear that his interpretation of all three mirrored my imagination almost exactly, those films will become classics in years to come.

My two favourite scenes both come from the first book/film oddly enough, perhaps it's because 'The Fellowship' was a ground breaking film I never thought I'd ever see on screen and the scenes were how I remembered them in my head.

I remember being depressed for somewhile after I read this in the book, it's and excellent bit of cinema. And the Urak-hai Captain 'Lurtz' what memorable and menacing character Jackson made him, even though he's just momentary to the story.

I also like this scene from the final part at the Gates of Mordor. It imparts very well the chilling menace and treachery of Sauron's reign. Thing is I don't think it's shown in the version normally aired, I think it only appears in the extended/ directors cut version.

Sauron's emissary known as 'The mouth of Sauron' very unpleasant creature.

I would echo your sentiments about LOTR, tj. Massive books but Jackson did a wonderful job of capturing the essence of the story, characters, and settings. I imagine Tolkien would have been pleased, proud even.

My favourite scenes from ROTK are when Pippin sings for Denethor and the ride of the Rohirrim in the battle scene when Theoden is addressing the soldiers.

Agreed. Jackson transferred the story to film brilliantly. Never saw that mouth of Sauron before though, gross!

I loved the Rivendell set, that and Bilbo Baggins’s house are my dream decor. :gigglesnshit:

Oh yes, can’t imagine anyone NOT wanting to live (or at least holiday) in Rivendell. :wubwub:

Well if we’re doing silly films, this was one the the best silliest ones ever.
The Jerk with Steve Martin.
Starts off with him wondering why he doesn’t have his family’s rhythm

Loved this scene from Ghost when Sam makes Oda Mae hand over the 4 million dollar cheque to the Nuns. I would probably feel the same as her.
