The Old fella did well then, ( dont forget his wife )
Maybe the alternative was just to try and remain calm let the burglars take what they wanted , then contact the Police when the burglars left .
, your really living in cockoo land snooks , you have two blokes forcing themselves into your home , probably threatening you, pushing you etc , asking were your valuables are . there’s been many instances were people that have intruders never lived to phone the police , when you in fear you do anything to get out of the situation,
Certainly a frightening scenario, but Police advice is to stay calm and do not agitate the intruders and if possible leave the property or go to a safe room and try and call the Police. , burglary is normally an opportunist crime , where the burglars get in and out of the property as soon as they possibly can.
As you have pointed out he and his wifes lives are now in jeopardy due to his actions, with his property boarded up and a Police Guard
How long can he and his wife live with that problem without having to move from that area,
if they do move out of the area anyone taking over their property will be in fear of mistaken retaliation
A situation that could run for some time to come.
