In general, I'm in favour of apologies in an attempt to heal open wounds that have resulted in injustices, but how far back should we go?
I have been a strong supporter of apologies to the stolen generations for example, and also to those British kids who were taken into care in Australia - one of whom was a close friend

Should the UK apologise to all ex-colonies?
Should Gordon Brown apologise for the financial crash?
Should the Romans apologise for invading us?

And if the wrongs are acknowledged - what about compensation?
This is where the Australian Governments attempts at reconciliation with the Aborigines keeps stalling.
