Labour have had decades to get a proper media. What happened?

They were in cahoots with Murdoch

Since the 1960's when they handed him the Daily Herald, they are not to be trusted.

What piffle.

The Daily Herald was owned by The International Publishing Corporation, who bought a controlling share in 1961. It underwent several changes of management before ceasing publication in 1964, when it was relaunched as The Sun, in its pre-Murdoch form.

By 1969 the original Sun had fewer readers than the Herald at the end of its existence. The newspaper was then sold by IPC to Rupert Murdoch's News Limited.

I can find no record of Labour owning the Herald or giving it to Murdoch. It was bought on the open market.

He's another Tory who wants Socialist interventionist policies in the free market to solve problems. He quotes the worldwide banking crash, which didn't affect Socialist countries as badly as USA, UK etc.

There was no reason not to stop the sale to Murdoch, was there? Are you for a free market or a Socialist controlled economy? Which?

Labour didn't sell the Herald to Murdoch. You aren't too keen on the truth.

Labour were in power when Murdoch bought it, they didn't prevent the sale. They can't be trusted.

So you want a government who decides what your rich idols can and cannot buy?

Get a leader who doesn't fold when he's got her on the rails...

They certainly need someone more vociferous who will go on the attack. Not saying Corbyn doesn't know his politics but he lacks strong leadership qualities with presence and by nature he's quietly spoken.

It's going to leak anyway and is a nice distraction from the horror of brexit, imagine thinking that institutionalised racism is needed to shield a massive fudge from thewillathupeepul.

It's 2018, where's my flying jet car?

PMQs were going great and he hesitated and bottled it. Not the first time.

That would be that Labour Party that delivered the massive breast screening cock-up that we've all just found out about?

You stick to stating your opinions and I'll stick to stating mine. I want a free press which reflects your views and mine, can you say the same?

I'm casting doubt on their sincerity by showing that they've had decades to do something about a free press but did nothing. Don't be fooled by them.

What are you going on about? Do you want a free press or not? If so why are you moaning about non intervention? If not, why are you a Tory if you want Socialist responses like market interventions.

I don't object to interventions that help bolster democracy. Do you?

How would stopping the selling off a failing newspaper which had lost 2/3s of its readers bolster democracy ?

Isn't MORE competition in the marketplace a Tory wet dream ?

How would one less publication help competition ?
