That is simply fact, it can't be altered by opinion - to be officially bankrupt is far more than opinion, and opinion is all you have.

We print our own money. Effectively we pay for government expenditure above that taken in via taxation by issuing bonds, on which we pay interest.

Thus if the fiscal situation in the UK worsens, we raise the rate of interest on our bonds to ensure income, to pay debts and ensure no bankruptcy.

As stated before, if the likes of Greece aren't going bankrupt, we never will. Bankruptcy is essentially a myth as far as the UK is concerned.

Well, I'll place a higher credence on the opinions of professors of economics over an anonymous poster on an internet forum thanks.

:cuppaT: Bovvered ?

You are 100% wrong.

As are they, if they are claiming the UK has ever been truly bankrupt.

Please read this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_s ... ebt_crises

You will find the 4 UK entries about half way down the list.

You are still flogging a dead horse.

A debt crisis does not equate to bankruptcy, in any shape or form.

Example - I have to pay the rent, but I'm £50 short. Solution - I borrow £50 off my mate and pay back £55 when I get paid.

Or, in UK terms - We need £2bn to pay the public sector workers. Solution - we issue a treasury bond at 5% interest payable in a year. The Chinese buy it.

:flog: :flog: Carry on.

I’m not going to have a pointless discussion about the definition of bankruptcy with someone who believes that New Zealand is a Socialist country

You’re just in denial

In your heart, you know I’m right and gigabit is wrong

It would have been much better if you acknowledged your error first time you posted that garbage.
Now in the face of actual facts and historical events you look like an even bigger fool

A quick reminder.

Mungo is a troll, whose desire for having the last word is also indicative of a trolling trait.

Mungo also takes parts of people's posts and re-writes them completely out of context. Typical trollery.

Also, Mungo, like most trolls, completely ignores obviously truthful, factual posts in the mad desire to never be shown he is utterly wrong.

All in all, a sad sack of a poster, best ignored like the mad utterings of Viper or the ramblings of Rocthedog.

None are open to any form of reasoning or logic, preferring instead to either bluster, waffle or simply bullshit their way out of the holes they dig. Their definitions of things like bankruptcy or socialism are right, because they found them on Google first. And, if you want a perfect example of the idiocy presented, just wait for the reply along the lines of "Thankyou for admitting I was right".

Self delusion - thy name is Mungobrush.

Plus it was a Tory Chancellor, Chamberlain that presided over the late 1932 fiasco.

How will you ever learn if you don’t listen to people who know a lot more than you?

why do you keep lying all the time? :shake head:

So posting quotations by Labour politicians is lying now is it?

I'm talking about the UK being able to go bankrupt in 2018. See quoted post above.

FYI, the UK has gone bankrupt 4 times
The last time was in 1932. led into it of course by a Labour government

The USA declared bankruptcy in 1933.
"On March 9, 1933, House Joint Resolution No. 192-10 by the 73rd Congress, was voted into law, which is the Emergency Banking Act. This Act declared the Treasury of the United States, ‘Bankrupt’"

The U.S. has declared bankruptcy five times, since its foundation

In total, 83 countries have declared bankruptcy in the past 200 years.

But I daresay you will dismiss all of this history as lies.
