Just wondering... Story

As we have been for 3 years.
Why would a family choose in very obscure holiday cottages for over 3 years and only pay cash? They have disappeared today owing a couple of grand. He reckons he is a Gold dealer or a Diamond dealer, they are a bit scruffy. two boys, maybe at private school and a dog .
Mystery story... All stories welcome !

If he was dealing in precious metals and or precious stones I don't think he'd advertise it if on the run but it is a business renowned for cash and secrecy.

Might have had a message off a friend telling him he had to run.
If you are on the run from anyone going to the same place three years on the trot is risky.
You're creating a pattern and patterns can be followed traced interpreted.
Might be someone very interesting.
How exciting ... till the cleaning lady is found in a pool of blood ....

Sounds like gypsies to me, but boys at private school? Remote house - could also be a grower. I can think of a numerous nefarious activities that kept them paying cash...

Or grower/dealer. Three years, the quiet life - remote. Did he go away a lot and leave her alone I wonder...But to up and off so fast, I like Rocky's theory, but I think like you, that 3 years is a bit long to be in one place, but I have heard that they are lax after a while, and people aren't as protected as they were at first,,,,

No, definitely not growing dope, they have to move a lot between rented cottages, though not so much in the winter.
They only wanted places remote and not in towns like Ambleside etc

Very weird life moving from one rented cottage to another for 3 odd years, thought they might on witness protection at first but they recently struggled to pay the rent. I'm guessing that would be sorted if you were protected? Anyway it enhances our working life thinking what they are up to and we have discussed writing a book , i doubt that will happen though

It is quite an exciting mystery, apparently they have gone to look after a friends house but I think they have done runner .
The dog flea's and rubbish they left in the last house was disgusting!
