I could end up on Tinder or become the newest member of a Chinese triad gang. Who knows.

That's the point isn't it Nucks. They can share your info, but when it's the other way around (you want info), you'll be told to go away. Hardly a level playing field is it. The only recourse you may have is the Freedom of Information Act.

Apparently you can request that they delete all your personal information, but if you do that it makes your contract of employment with them void. So bye bye job. Got us by the short and curlies.

I'm not going to send out individual emails to members and it would be impossible to do so with guests.

The data that we keep on you is your username, your IPs and your joining email (IPs only for guests obvs). This information is kept securely on our server and is not shared with any third party. We do not run any scripts or ads because I can't be arsed to.

That's as close to compliance that you're gonna get

There's also been stuff in the news about the forthcoming EU Copyright Directive.

Article 13 of which compels those who are "information society service providers" (that's you, Stooo) to ensure users don't share copyrighted material on their platforms.

Just as well we'll be under no obligation to comply with this draconian nonsense after we leave the EU, eh?

You're welcome.

But we will.

It's going to be interesting to see it roll out.

This article may help:

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/eu-ce ... 37286.html

According to Reda, upload filters have already been made illegal by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), which ruled that an obligation to filter all user uploads violates the fundamental rights to privacy, freedom of expression, freedom of information and freedom to conduct a business.

"Help"?

The only thing that comment helps with is in demonstrating that the EU intends to impose regulations that conflict with civil rights within member countries.

Germany and Spain have, apparently, already tried to implement similar laws unilaterally and they've been challenged in court.
So, now the EU plans to impose similar regulations on it's entire membership, likely making it incumbent on people such as yourself to challenge that in a UK court.

I mean, if you've got the cash to hire yourself a barrister and go to court to fight for your right to allow people to post links, good on ya.

Personally, I'd rather we weren't subject to such nonsense to begin with.
