As someone who watches a lot of true crime documentaries, I thought, I would start a thread and post the documentaries I've watched recently.
The first case is probably one of the most shocking crimes to have been committed in the UK.
Nikitta Grender was raped and stabbed to death by her boyfriend's cousin.
What makes this case so horrific is Nikitta was eight and a half months pregnant and after Carl Whant raped and stabbed Nikitta in the throat, he then stabbed in her in stomach.
Nikitta had already named her unborn daughter Kelsey-May and she was also killed in the attack.
Whant even killed Nikitta's wee pug dog Missy.
He then set the house on fire and hoped it would destroy the evidence and the fire would be treated as a tragic accident.
However a simple question from a senior officer to an officer at the scene, quickly established it was a crime.
"Was the victim in the fetal position" "No she was lying on her back"
More than 90% of fire victims are found in the fetal position, because they try and make themselves as small as possible"
An investigation was launched and it wasn't long before Carl Whant was arrested and charged with rape, murder, arson and child destruction.
During the murder trial, Whant told lie after lie but thankfully the jury saw through it and he was found guilty and sentenced to a minimum of 35 years.
He appealed his sentence saying it was too harsh, but the judge threw the appeal out.
Nikitta, Kelsey-May and Missy are all buried together in a cemetery in Wales.
