It has now been ascertained at the Inquiry that the Hotpoint Fridge/Freezer involved was purchased a few years previous as Brand New .
The tenant of the flat where the fire started has been cleared of any wrong doing, he did not walk out with a suitcase as some of the news media suggested, he called the fire brigade and then left the flat and stayed in the Carpark evacuation area for his safety.
He is now under witness protection due to harrassment by the press

The man who lived in the flat in which the Grenfell Tower fire started did "the right thing from start to finish", a public inquiry has heard.

Lawyer Rajiv Menon said his client, Behailu Kebede, called 999 and alerted his flatmates and fourth-floor neighbours as soon as he saw smoke.

Barefoot and clutching his phone, he then left the building and watched in horror as the fire spread up the tower.

Mr Menon said the fire was accidental and Mr Kebede bore no responsibility.

The Inquiry now needs to clear the Emergency Telephone operators instead of blaming them for their procedure, they were working blind unaware of the situation,

Standard advice is that if it is not safe to exit the building go into one room shut the door open a window, block any gaps to stop smoke getting into the room, and await for help.

Do not go out into Toxic Smoke Filled Hallways , Corridors or stairways it is very easy to get dis orientated .

I think you are mistaken.

The enquiry is not "trying to blame" anyone. It is there to establish the facts and publish findings.

It will take closure of fire stations and all other factors into account in order to reach those conclusions.

I can't really expect any better from rags desperate to sell their tawdry version of 'the facts' which they spin and sensationalise just to sell more copies.

It could be said that there is a case to be made for reporting restrictions to be imposed, if only to stop people being misled. In other words, if they can't even report stuff like this accurately and impassionately, they shouldn't be allowed to report it at all.

From what they were saying yesterday, seems they’ll find they gave the best advice at the time. To stay put unless the fire is in your flat or if the corridors are filled with smoke/fire.
The fire service seem to have standard advice for tower blocks. I expect they’ll say no one expected the cladding to become ablaze the way it did.

The Police will have to prove that there was a safe alternative for evacuation in this particular Incident ,

One has to have sympathy with Dany Cotton the Chief Fire Officer she had been in the position less than six months to be submitted to an Incident like Grenfell Towers which is a type of Incident that possibly happens once in a career lifetime, IMO there is no way her as Chief Fire Officer and London Fire Brigade can be held responsible for the " Stay Put " Policy
