Nice reconstruction of male Triceratops in display colours.

Compare that to the concrete and shit coloured 1950's dinosaurs of Jurassic World 2.

That's clearly been given the colours of a toucan.

Are we saying dinosaurs are basically birds now?

And why would dinosaurs, most of which don't fly, need feathers exactly?

I get the feeling these scientists are just making stuff up as they go along, they haven't really got a clue.

Thousands of scientists working over many decades have more than 'just a clue'.

Oh and for the record there are over 11,000 species of living Maniraptoran theropods.

Just look out of the window - they are commonly known as birds.

They really like warm, moist, dark places!

Here is a nice example of how large the Australian species get.



But look up Heteropoda maxima for a nice example of a real giant Huntsman.

But at least it's not down under.

Based on the noises they make, I’d say more similar to a dog than a cat. That yelping thing they do, particularly.

They are actually Feliforms (cat-like carnivorans) a suborder that includes cats, mongooses, civets etc - so far more closely related to cats than dogs despite appearances.

I was watching a nature program with David Attenborough this morning, on the many flying creatures of the animal world. The giant beetles taking flight made me think of the Russian Antonov plane, how on earth can it get off the ground. Fascinating to watch, they have a hard shell to protect their wings, unlike other insects whose wings are visible when they’re not flying.

Common Ragwort. Attracts the caterpillars of the cinnabar moth, but I've yet to see any in this park.



A very delicate-looking Meadow Grass, possibly Rough Meadow Grass, with Common Rye Grass on the right. Grasses are a nightmare to identify.
