What part of "no trolling" do you not understand?

Strange too because McAz is usually quite the amateur mod on here.

Gosh, Ray - what has this strange post got to do with food? :dunno:

Ironically, given that I have an olive complexion and I'm guessing McAz is South Asian, the only "gammon" here is Punk.

Nothing.

How odd?

Anyway, his hypothesis is wrong since anyone can get almost anything from anywhere in the modern world - and long before it. Tea anyone? :gigglesnshit:

Really, you can get decent fish and chips anywhere?

Struggle to get them in London never mind abroad.

I had a great fish and chips on the Costa del Sol and a very nice British breakfast too.

But yes, like anything, quality varies - but not necessarily because it's location dependent.

Judging by the number of foreign foods and drinks you can get in the UK, I presume it works the other way around for many other countries around the world.

Besides if you like the local cuisine, it may not be that big an issue anyway.

Billingsgate might be a clue.

It is the United Kingdom's largest inland fish market. It takes its name from Billingsgate, a ward in the south-east corner of the City of London, where the riverside market was originally established. In its original location in the 19th century, Billingsgate was the largest fish market in the world.[1]

Here in New York, you can get Fish and Chips, Cadbury's, walkers crisps and anything else you want, Indian, Russian, Polish, Greek food from every country in the world in fact. Go to the wine store and you can get any spirit, go to the beer supplier and you can get any beer you wish for.
A couple of British guys opened a British Cafe in Brooklyn years ago and made a killing. I went about 10 years ago and thought the food was shit. And vastly over priced for what you got. But the young NY's thought it was chic and the place to go to.
One of the weirdest things I encountered was walking down lower 5th Ave years ago and walking past a row of Indian restaurants with some Indian guys trying to entice us inside. They all spoke with a Brummie accent lol we went into one and had a great night. Still friends with the owner who loves to come over and cook dinner and drink and chat with us.

You're originally from Germany aren't you? I'm hearing you. Love German cuisine personally.

Frankfurters, pickled fish (e.g. Bismarck herring) and of course lager Pilsen beer (not the mostly shit English stuff).

Polish cuisine usually works well for me, but the meat quality IMO is sometimes below par.

A large part of Poland used to be part of Germany before the great war(s) IIRC, so there is a large overlap in cuisine. And Pilsen is now in the Czech Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia), also a former part of Germany IIRC.

There’s a sweet shop in the mall that sells American confectionary. I picked up a couple of tootsie rolls and a can of root beer today. They wanted a tenner for a box of Honey Comb cereal. F that! :gigglesnshit: It ain’t that good.

That's the point I think Ray is making, yes you could if you wanted to seek out your fav expat foods abroad, but the prices are silly, so you'd probably not have them.
For me a good cup of tea.....yes I know you can get pg tips (other brands maybe preferred) but the water and milk used also add to the final flavour. I suppose I would get used to the different taste of the water and milk eventually, but all the same...... :cuppaT:
