Breaking - Tory MPs officially call for vote of confidence in Theresa May - and she expects them to reach crucial threshold

Tory MPs are officially calling for a vote of confidence in Theresa May.

Crucially she expects them to reach the threshold needed to trigger the make-or-break poll.

Reports suggest several letters calling for a vote of no confidence have already been sent to the chair of the influential 1922 Committee chair Graham Brady.

If 48 MPs send such letters then Mrs May will be fighting for her political life as she will face a vote on whether she can continue as Tory leader and PM.

On Monday she will be addressing the 1922 committee of backbench Tory MPs.

She will survive it I think. And then the Tories are stuck with her for a year at the very least.

I note that Conservative supporters on here have regularly called for whoever is leading Labour to remain, describing them as "liabilities".

Time for the call to go up - PLEASE KEEP TREEZA AS PM !!!!

Should never have appointed a Remainer leader.

Paid too much attention to the ex-Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund managers who are the main party donors.

Elected not appointed. I thought you right-wing types paid great store by democracy? :dunno:

"Put" not "paid". I've a had a hard day and I'm starving and waiting for a sausage sarney. Neither of which is remotely relevant to this thread but is marginally more important than whether one Tory twat gets replaced by another.

I thank you.

She was the only candidate.

That's not an election.

And there was the general election that followed in which the Leave eejits still supported May by voting Tory - as the Torytrolls have reminded us ever since.
