Ben Stokes trial: Star 'could have killed man in nightclub fight

The bodycam video of his arrest is worth viewing

England cricketer Ben Stokes "could have killed" a man in a brawl outside a nightclub, a court has heard.
The Durham all-rounder is one of two men accused of fighting in Bristol on 25 September.
Bristol Crown Court previously heard Ryan Ali, 28, and Ryan Hale, 27, were knocked unconscious by 27-year-old Mr Stokes, who denies affray.
Mr Ali has also pleaded not guilty to affray. A charge against Mr Hale was dismissed by the judge on Thursday.
On the fourth day of the trial, the jury heard former soldier Mr Hale tell police in a formal interview that he believed Mr Stokes could have killed him.
He added: "I'm a dad. He could have killed me. I don't know why he didn't stop."
The jury was directed by Judge Peter Blair QC to find Mr Hale not guilty of affray following legal submissions.

There's one video which shows the man he hit getting up and following his mates, and another where he's lying on the ground for some time. :dunno:

The prosecution at Bristol Crown Court has said Stokes was “making fun” of gay couple Kai Barry and William O’Connor for their “camp behaviour”, impersonating their hand movements, before he flicked his cigarette butt at them.

Surprised Stokes didn't break a few bones in his right hand.

It is all a bit of a muddle, as per all drunken bar brawls I have witnessed. They seem to start for nothing/perceived slights, people taking the piss out of one another and then commencing shoving.

The doorman said Stokes took the piss out of 2 gay guys and mimicked their speech and actions and 2 other guys became involved and he allegedly knocked them both out.

We will have to wait and see

My thoughts too, for a cricketer as well?

I think he's on a sticky wicket judging by the evidence so far

He does. It's strange though, because I remember him being reported as a 'hero' in the papers, with the two gay guys saying he stuck up for them !!

More to come, for sure.

I thought Stokes said that the guys were mocking his gay friends. Oh well, I really can't follow this story.

It seems the press cannot be trusted and we should always wait until the trial to hear the evidence from those who were physically present, and I say this because I read the same in the papers a while back.

He is looking far more the aggressor now the court case is producing actual evidence.
