News to me about the rifles, I'm no expert ! We didn't visit Spandau, it was still in use, for one prisoner...

The oddest thing about the trip was nighttime, in the west Berlin was lit up like a Christmas tree - in the East almost all the lights went off.

Saddest ? Pensioner's bridge, where the elderly were allowed to leave the East and rejoin families after 40+ years, they were seen as an unnecessary burden.

Awesome ? Passing the Fuhrer's bunker, or the Checkpoint Charlie museum seeing the equipment used in successful escapes.

I am getting even more jealous and I am betting all the sites are now on wonderful tourist walks around the city.

My mad Bavarian mater keeps telling me I ought to go to Berlin so maybe next year.

As for the rifles, it was just that I recall the AK47 replacing the semi automatic SKS and I am sure that those are the rifles on display but yet happy to be corrected.

Not the same as a normal passenger train.

They certainly WERE normal passenger trains - they stopped at the border and were searched (dogs) while docs were checked. Then, into the West...

Check out the map of Berlin u bahn, subway, tube or underground, a transit system serving the city of Berlin (Germany) with urban, suburban & commuter trains. Note, this was in use prior to German unification, many stations were in East Berlin, and there were designated E - W crossing points.

Henry Beck style.

I can't read the link above right now.

It's a format adopted in many other countries around the world, but obviously is not geographically correct.

This is what LU and surrounding area really looks like.

Apparently it was unreleased by TfL, but obtained under a FOI request.

Gove forced to defend lack of post-Brexit protection against chlorinated chicken in agriculture bill

When i first saw it i had to look twice as i thought it was a spoof. That "What The Hell Happens Now" ought to be sent out to Brexiteers and government as guide book as none seem to know what they're getting or have a clue where they're going!

I watched an argument over whether this 'shite in imported US food' is the responsibility of Dept. of Trade, or Ministry of Agriculture...

If they can't make up their minds on that, what chance protection ? (See - Brexit)

They are welcome to send me a copy, but I insist on a hard copy/version.

I would vote to stay in the EU if the referendum were to happen again says Arron Banks (Founder and financier of Leave.EU)

“The corruption I have seen in British politics, the sewer that exists and the disgraceful behaviour of the government over what they are doing with Brexit and how they are selling out, means that if I had my time again I think we would have been better to probably Remain and not unleash these demons.”

(BBC’s Andrew Marr Show - today)

I watched that debacle on the catch up at lunchtime. Banks slagged off Carole Cadwalladr and the Guardian for a bit before refusing to answer direct questions from Marr (who crumpled accordingly); spinning his answers to various companies just to muddy it all up  Getting JHB to slag off #FBPE and Peoples Vote was weak but predictable, BBC would love to have Katie H on the panel but they have to settle for second best :shake head:
