3 people dead in shooting at a bowling alley in Southern Cal

Postby Cactus Jack » Sat Jan 05, 2019 10:50 pm

A shooting at a bowling alley late Friday left three men dead and four people wounded in Southern California, and police are trying to find whoever fired the shots, authorities said.

The gunshots at the Gable House Bowl in Torrance went off just before midnight. A fight -- first involving young ladies, then men -- happened shortly beforehand, sending people running, a witness said.

"Then ... maybe a minute and a half later, all of the sudden all we heard was, pop, pop, pop," the witness, Dana Scott, told RMG News. "Bowlers were diving under the benches. The people that were still bowling on the lanes were on the floors, underneath the seats."

"People were looking for their parents, because this is a family league. You've got mothers, fathers, sons, daughters ... everybody's friends in that league," she said.

No arrests were immediately reported after the shooting. City police were "working to identify the suspect(s) involved," they said in a news release.

TEXAS CITY, Texas (KTRK) -- A Texas City man faced a judge just one day after he allegedly killed three children, including a baby, and then shot his girlfriend in the head.

Junaid Mehmood was taken into custody late Thursday behind the Panera Bread restaurant on El Dorado at I-45 in Clear Lake, just hours after police made the gruesome discovery.

Late Friday, we learned chilling details about how the three children died inside the family's Texas City apartment. Police said the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office found the three young victims suffered multiple stab wounds, as well as blunt force trauma.

Police say the 27-year-old confessed to 911 dispatchers about killing Angela Pilot, 5; Prince Larry Brown, 2; and 2-month-old Ashanti Mehmood.

The mother of the children, Kimaria Nelson, 24, underwent surgery and is currently listed as stable at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Officers said they were responding to a welfare check around 6:15 p.m. Thursday at the Pointe Ann Apartments when the bodies of the children were found.

Shortly after the alleged stabbings and shootings, Mehmood posted a cryptic message on Facebook, apologizing to Nelson and her family:

Actually, I think this one came first. but the weapon was different. :dunno:

How often do you take a knife to gunfight?

I mean both things being equal and all I guess you're quite happy to go against an AR-15 with a steak knife; right?

I would prefer an AR, if I was fighting an armed man with a knife.

Of course when you want to kill little kids, the chance of meeting armed resistance is fairly low, so a knife will do.

Lets not forget the windy city. I guess the most fortunate thing about all of those shootings is that most people survive getting shot there. Shootings are regular, but deaths are not as high as they could be do to poor marksmanship and some pretty good hospitals in the area. No doubt the trauma surgeons get plenty of practice.

Enough with this depressing news. Lets talk about a subject that makes me happy, but some men nervous.

A felon who escaped from a South Carolina prison early Tuesday morning and barged into a woman’s home was fatally shot by the homeowner in what the local sheriff described as a “shining example” of why people should own guns and know how to use them.

In the meantime, the other fleeing inmate, Bruce W. McLaughlin Jr., 30, had kicked in the door of a nearby home and armed himself with a metal tool used for sharpening knives that he found in the kitchen, the sheriff said. The homeowner was there alone and Mr. McLaughlin approached her bedroom door, leaving her with no way to escape, the sheriff said.

The woman fired a single shot from a handgun she owned, which struck Mr. McLaughlin in the head and killed him, the sheriff said, adding that the homeowner was not injured.

At the news conference, Sheriff Clark called the homeowner a hero and emphasized the need for people — especially women — to get concealed weapons permits.

Lets not forget the canine victims of the government shootings too.

The Faulkner County Sheriff's Office has put a deputy on paid administrative leave after video surfaced showing the deputy shoot a small dog.

The video posted to multiple social media sites shows a deputy speaking with a homeowner as two small dogs run around a yard. At one point, one of the dogs starts barking and the deputy shoots the animal.

The Faulkner County Sheriff's Office responded to social media backlash on Facebook Friday night calling the incident "unfortunate."

They say they were responding to an aggressive dog call in Shilok Estates.

Sheriff Tim Ryals placed the deputy on paid administrative leave pending an investigation. He also said video of the incident is being reviewed, according to the department Facebook post.

"The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office will investigate this incident to its fullest," the post went on to read. "Thank you for your on going support."

According to a Go Fund Me page, the dog is alive and currently receiving medical attention. As of Saturday morning, the page had raised roughly $1,000 to cover the dog's bills.

There's a video of the cop defending himself from the dog attack, in the above link. He's fortunate to survive the Chihuahua attack. :ooer:

Knife crime eh... gotta love it. We Brits are so superior :shake head:
100 dead in London last year alone. A father killed in front of his son getting on a train. But let's discuss what's happening in a country 4000 miles away.
