If We Were Free To Live....

Anywhere in the World, where would you like to reside?

For me, I think I would settle for a shore in Morocco, where the sun shines most every day, and the cost of living to a foreigner abroad is inexpensive, Or I would go home to Canada, even though I have lived in Scotland over 50 years.

Where would your choice be?

As much as I would like to be in warmer climes, I don’t think I’d be happy in a place where English wasn’t the main language. It just wouldn’t feel like home, I’d feel like I was on permanent holiday. Canadian winters suck the big one so that’s out. :gigglesnshit: Hmm, Australia or Florida maybe. But then I don’t do well in very hot weather. Fuck it, I’ll just stay put. :ooer:

Somewhere with a pleasant climate! I remember reading about Costa Rica’s capital San José. It has it's own micro climate and is wonderful all year round. Plus if you did want tropical now and again you just head to the coast to the beaches.

I've done coastal more than once.

Jack made a perceptive remark - something about only appreciating the coast when you don't live on it. I totally agree.

Scotland is the new Cornwall - still not overrun with tourists and, due to global warming, warm but not over hot.

Yeah, odd isn't it?

We visit every couple of months or so - fish and chips, ice cream, paddle and wotnot like kids. When we lived on the coast we just moaned about tourists.

I think perfection would be somewhere coastal, wild, and isolated
a city townhouse
and maybe a rural cottage, surrounded by green but close to civilisation too

my only dilemma would be how to split the 12 months between them, the city would only be getting long weekends though

Unfortunately a lot of this region depends on tourism as we have fuck all else except farms, moaning about visitors stopped a couple of decades ago.

Yeah tourism worth a couple of billion quid a year here is essential but it doesn't stop us moaning about it.
It gets quieter in winter but it doesn't stop.
Traffic pours in for mountain climbing hill walking white water stuff.
If we have a snowfall it increases the flow!

Mine is almost complete isolation - somewhere near, say, the Mull of Kintyre - couldn't care less about cities or towns, or the people who live in them.

Missus won't wear it though - she's not a weirdo like me. :gigglesnshit:
