Mothers send sons to Somalia to avoid knife crime

Representatives from north London’s Somali community say hundreds of children have been flown to Somalia, Somaliland and Kenya because of rising concerns over drug gangs and county lines, the criminal networks that use children to transport drugs from cities to the provinces.

In a series of interviews, Somali mothers who arrived in London after fleeing their country during its 1990s civil war told the Observer that many of their sons had asked to leave the UK because of drug gangs and the threat of violence."

Other than being the capital i'm not sure why people obsess over London as the total knife crime figures outside London is much higher than in. Londons figure is high purely for no other reason that millions of folk live there! The media doesn't help much continually pumping this image of "knife crime London" as though it doesn't happen elsewhere.

It's also not true that knife crime is higher outside of london. homicides with a knife as the weapon are higher per 100,000 in other areas but knife crime is 3 times higher in London than anywhere else.

Does that correlate to Mrs May telling the police they were getting numbers cut and also the stopping of stop and search because people like Diane Abbot complained that far too many black people were getting stopped unfairly?

Knife crime is rising in wales in part because of organised crime. you've got gangs coming in from from liverpool, manchester, and london. Same with the home counties - knife crime is rising there because of gangs spreading out from london.
