I never click on links like that - so why the fuck did I do it this time!

Senseless, traumatising and utterly heartbreaking. It makes the bleating going on in other threads pale into insignificance...

I always avoid threads like that on DS because it's just a grief porn party inside but I wish you hadn't posted about it so graphic here, you've done what they've done despite protesting how much you hate it.

Take heart in one thing, there was a recent story about a pride of lions killing and eating their poachers. So it's not all bad news!

Sorry. Upset, knee-jerk reaction to seeing that. I'm still kicking myself for looking at the link.

I don't think what I posted was too graphic though. Seeing it IS graphic - avoid, avoid, avoid...

I don't like the slaughter of any animal, that's why I'm a vegan.

I wonder how many people viewed the New Zealand massacre/terrorist incident. I never click on stuff like that and warn my lot not to. Once seen, it cannot be unseen and could really cause mental distress. What's that saying about looking into the abyss and it looking back into you, there is something in that.

Can't say I've missed it at all or dairy products. I figured I can hardly call myself an animal lover if I don't give a shit about cows and pigs and sheep and chickens, etc. I like all animals, not just the cute and fluffy ones.

I admire your will power. I’m an animal lover too but I’m a greedy bastard. Probably a massive hypocrite as well...

I've been kind of following the DS thread about that. Shocked by how many actively sought out and rubbernecked the entire 17 minutes.

I have no feelings if you're veggie or not, but I am rather curious and a bit puzzled, so maybe you can answer me AB.

Cattle, pigs, sheep and chickens are solely bred to be slaughtered. they are not wildlife. I don't eat lamb, as I tend to think of them gambolling in fields, and that puts me off, but I don't care if someone else eats it. Do you?

BTW - Incidental but Aldi have just stocked a rather good selection of veggie foods.

It would destroy your soul watching people being slaughtered. It would seriously traumatise me. Reading about it and hearing the survivors is hard enough.
I'm in the middle of the Madeleine McCann documentary on Netflix. That's a mystery that will never be solved.

Only if I've been ill and need an extra boost.

No, it's a personal choice. I'm not self righteous about it and I never criticise anyone else for their choice.

I reckon I could live without meat, but not fish! :dunno:.... I’ve thought about having a plant only based diet for a few weeks as a kind of detox.... there’s so much choice when you think about it! :smilin:

I go for the good husbandry approach, I like to know the provenance of my food and believe we should take the responsibility of being custodians of the earth seriously

but nobody is perfect and I like a dirty takeaway as much as the next person

what pisses me off though is all those on DS who scream about animal cruelty, then buy £1 burgers from farmfoods - what the fuck do they think is in them - nowt that involves kindness for a quid

it's fine if you choose to eat that, or if it is what you can afford, just don't fucking preach and pretend animal welfare is what you are about

see how I brought that back to DS

Was tempted to check that out, but my utter contempt for the McCanns stopped me. Cleo, I cannot stand to look at them. But that's another story...
