This isn't Brexit satire, this is full blown Brexit panic !!

The Guardian has obtained a copy of a secret planning document.

"The most important decisions in response to any potential crisis will be taken by the little-known European Union exit and trade (preparedness) subcommittee, which was set up in January, and is chaired by the prime minister.

That will have sweeping powers to intervene and order emergency measures, including mobilising the military, and getting rid of regulations if necessary"

Cabinet Office has told the local resilience forums that it wants them to immediately report certain types of information up the chain of command. This includes any signs of an increase in community tensions and hate crime, panic buying, protests and demonstrations.

“Central government is not providing leadership,” said the source. “At the moment we are trying to plan for everything. There is no direction of accountability. The response to a no-deal Brexit needs to be built from the bottom up.”

Looking great, Treeza,

And counting.

I wonder what number will actually make this government sit up and take notice.

Of course, the likes of Guido will claim there are a number of 'fake signatures' - but this represents an awful lot of Tory votes lost forever, no matter what.

BBC already trying to suggest 'bots' at work. Funny they weren't bothered about dodgy dealings in the Referendum and Brexit.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-4 ... gn=bbcnews

The site introduced a signature system after the last large petition (4 million for another vote if remain won) and it was found to be flooded by Russian bots. There are five million emigrants living all over the world most of whom don't want to fuck up their careers/families/lifestyle/retirement home, and they are entitled to add their names to the petition.

Let's not confuse 'everybody signing the petition' with 'everybody signing the petition also has the right to vote'.

It is not possible to use the same email address more than once to sign the petition.

No doubt some people will have or have set up multiple e-mail addresses.

If Article 50 is revoked, there isn't really much point in having it in a treaty. :dunno:

But, call me naive, I thought treaties were binding. :dunno:

Article 50 is binding including the part that says you can revoke it - i.e stop the process of leaving and stay.

If the leaving party no longer wants to leave its much better to have the leaving party simply say "we are no longer leaving" than have them leave and then apply to rejoin, which would kick start a lengthy and time consuming process (along with all the political wrangling that entails). Same way its easier sometimes for 2 parties to simply extend a contract than try to negotiate an entirely new one.

"The European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruling last year confirmed that the UK could revoke Article 50 itself, without having to ask the other 27 EU countries for permission.
It said that if it did, the UK could remain a member of the EU on the same terms including keeping its budget rebate.
But it did set some conditions.
The ruling said revocation should be "unequivocal and unconditional", suggesting that the UK could not simply revoke Article 50 in order to buy more time and then resubmit it at a later date."

My 90 year old mother-in-law too - she voted Leave because she is very right wing and just wanted to see the chaos. My son asked her to vote Remain for his 18th birthday gift (he was too young to vote by 2 weeks) and she refused.

What a pity
Looks like the ratbag left are trying to hijack the protest to push their own corrupt agenda

"As demonstrators continue to arrive in central London, a large banner was unfurled on Westminster Bridge that read “Love socialism, hate Brexit”, a stunt organised by a group calling itself the Left Bloc, which is supported by Labour MPs, including Clive Lewis and Kate Osamor, among others. "

Vile Labour scum.

How are they hijacking it? they have every right to put forward their own positions as much as any others who oppose brexit whether its centrists or even those on the right that oppose it. Just as there were different factions on the leave side (some wanted a free market approach, others a protectionist nationalist one) the same is true with regards to leave.

The most recent update on that article is this:

Lucas seems to get it. Overturning brexit shouldnt be about a return to the status quo as it was that very status quo that led us to this point. There is a need for change that means everyone building support for their particular brand of change.

Good afternoon Chirpy.
The socialist agenda is basically about spreading the wealth, investing in parts of the country that have been overlooked, holding tax dodgers to account as well as those that use tax havens. Surely these are things you agree with.

Anna Soubry said on the BBC this morning that the current "deal" we have with the EU is the best deal

My point is that when you have scumbags pushing alternate agendas, it dissipates the main message of the march
It's not about socialism
People who are marching are not necessarily socialists.
It's about having a people's vote
And if it gets polluted by non-focussed groups on the ratbag fringes it will just be an excuse to not take it seriously.

As I said - vile Labour scum.
