Look at the route the atlantic hop is 2,000 miles. Pacific is 8,000 miles and each step you have to hit a titchy island with exactitude.

Yah, I guess in terms of distance she still had a fair way to go.

Having already flown over the air spaces of so many countries without any problems.

Fuel Gauge, surely? It is a real pain in the ass running out of fuel, take a small spare can in the boot and it will never happen.

Petrol bombs? Petrol vapour explodes doesn’t it? Inside an enclosed space like a piston it does.
Petrol tankers explode in accidents.

A petrol can is nothing like a petrol bomb.
Link me to some stories of those plastic cans exploding in cars .... in accidents in summer heat whatever.
Petrol tank will split and spill before a can does.
If anyone is frightened of travelling with petrol on board may I suggest a diesel.

Always? I’d keep one in the garage if I had to but wouldn’t want to have it on me all the time. Living in a city means a petrol station is never far away anyway. It’d be different if I lived out in the styx.

Diesel can catch on fire in certain conditions, as the Ladbroke Grove rail crash proved whjere there was a diesel fireball.

I noticed when boating that petrol will seep out of a can unless there is a perfect seal. The other thing is petrol expands a lot when heated/hot, so best to not overfill a can, especially a plastic one as it might burst.

The limits as far as I can tell are 5 litres (plastic) and 10 litres (metal) cans.
