You were a maths student, you know a bit about physics ..... you know that heavy backpacks alter your centre of gravity and fk up your balance big time.

Indeed. Not only that, the weight of the rucksack added to the impact force onto the platform when I fell. I've grounded my rucksack for at least a couple of months. However, it also broke my fall in that I didn't get any (serious) head or neck injuries. You've got to count your blessings, as things could have been a whole lot worse.
It's my right arm which is broken, but I'm predominantly left-handed, so again it's the better arm to break for me if you had to choose one or the other.
I'm fairly ambidextrous as well.
