I sure the recent US election had nothing to do with these developments.
Cummings being a potential security risk and a Russian asset as the CIA have been hinting you mean?
Nha, just the political backlash for not securing a trade deal with America until arrangements are in place which secures the GFA paints the Government into a corner.
Cummings isn't that important in the grand scheme of things.
Which brings into question the value of 55 Tufton St and the destruction of a leading economy. Why? I don't ask much, I try to lead a relatively clean life even though I don't floss. Why did they do this?
Genuinely have no idea unless it became an ideological cult.
British people are pragmatists, not purists.
Don't tar everyone with the same brush this is the English not the British and they're about as far from being pragmatists as it's possible to get.
The Englishman confronted with something that he wants but can't have will first convince himself that it is a moral duty incumbent upon him to secure it by any means necessary, it won't be a quick process but it will be inexorable and irreversible and once it's complete he will pursue that objective without conscience no matter how much suffering it causes with literal religious zeal.
No law, no custom, no moral, religious or ethical scruple will stand in his way and then when he gets his way he will be convinced that it was divine provenence not force of arms that secured his objective.
