Was it though or was it more about the trackie bottoms and bobble hats, the casual Leninism and of course the old money?

Rasputin?

Baroness Hoey agrees with Baroness Fox that we absolutely have to take down the Establishment and Brexit MEANS Brexit.

Complete lack of self awareness those two.

Still the penny must have dropped that their elevation to the Lords has politically neutered them in the event that BRINO is incoming. Which is nice.

I sure the recent US election had nothing to do with these developments.

Cummings being a potential security risk and a Russian asset as the CIA have been hinting you mean?

Nha, just the political backlash for not securing a trade deal with America until arrangements are in place which secures the GFA paints the Government into a corner.

Cummings isn't that important in the grand scheme of things.

Which brings into question the value of 55 Tufton St and the destruction of a leading economy. Why? I don't ask much, I try to lead a relatively clean life even though I don't floss. Why did they do this?

Genuinely have no idea unless it became an ideological cult.

British people are pragmatists, not purists.

Don't tar everyone with the same brush this is the English not the British and they're about as far from being pragmatists as it's possible to get.

The Englishman confronted with something that he wants but can't have will first convince himself that it is a moral duty incumbent upon him to secure it by any means necessary, it won't be a quick process but it will be inexorable and irreversible and once it's complete he will pursue that objective without conscience no matter how much suffering it causes with literal religious zeal.

No law, no custom, no moral, religious or ethical scruple will stand in his way and then when he gets his way he will be convinced that it was divine provenence not force of arms that secured his objective.

The country on it's knees thanks to COVID , the effects of recession and looming brexit. Businesses destroyed, jobs lost and the NHS in the shit so what's the solution?

£24 billion for the Armed Forces of course!

Easiest deal in history...

Let’s take the case of a retired London citizen. He wants to start living in Spain, so he decides to do it as soon as possible to avoid any possible future hassle.

The only thing he has to do is to register in the country and get his UE registry certificate. The main requirements is demonstrating €600 per month, something that is well covered with his pension.

But now imagine he misses the deadline and does not register in Spain until 2021. As the transitory period has come to an end, the EU registry certificate is not valid. He must request a non-lucrative visa, requiring € 2,200 per month, being his pension not enough. Thus, he has to stay in the UK.

As you can see, you should hurry up and register in Spain before the 31st of December to avoid losing the easiness in the legal application that any European Union citizen faces.

The UK and Canada have agreed a “rollover” deal to continue trading under existing terms as the current EU agreement when the Brexit transition period ends, the government has announced.

Boris Johnson and his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau sealed the “agreement in principle” during a video call on Saturday, the Department for International Trade said.

About those German car makers...

Cars imported into the UK from European Union (EU) countries will be subject to a 10% import tariff from the start of next year, the UK government has confirmed.

Revealed by the Department for International Trade as part of its wide-reaching announcement on the country’s post-Brexit trade tariffs, the default to World Trade Organization (WTO) terms means cars built in the EU will be subject to the same tariff rate as cars from elsewhere in the world.

Queues of trucks stretching for five miles unexpectedly built up in Kent on Tuesday after the French started a trial of post-Brexit checks.

Lorries on their way across the English channel were forced to stop in long lines up to junction 11 on the M20 as they tried to approach the Eurotunnel entrance just outside Folkestone and the Port of Dover.

The queues give a glimpse of things to come in January whether a deal is reached or not with the government last month warning of queues of 7,000 lorries on the main motorway routes to both Eurotunnel and Dover ferries in the worst-case scenario.

The delays were caused after the Police Aux Frontières, the equivalent to Border Force, rehearsed new immigration procedures in Calais.

Seems it took 70 seconds for each person on each truck.

A thousand would cause chaos - ten thousand a complete meltdown.

Meanwhile, I'm hearing reports of EU companies who sell to UK businesses jacking up size of minimum orders and insisting that VAT is collected on this side of the channel (not sure what that means, but the businesses concerned are VERY unhappy).

It's all going as expected. I'm just going to get my head down and concentrate on work, it's one of the few industries that's thriving. Until the border delays start of course. :doomed:

Black Swan - the reasonable worst case scenario - was built around it taking less than a minute, the figure 50 seconds springs to mind but I would have to recheck.
